LFC Midfielder HendersonMIDFIELDER Jordan Henderson is completely adamant that Liverpool FC’s quest for Champions League football this season is not over, despite being 10 points off the mark.

The 22 year old appears to have been boosted by Liverpool’s recent improvement in form, with a 5-0 destruction of Swansea and the fantastic effort against Zenit St Petersburg during the second-leg, winning 3-1 to level the aggregate score but crashed out on away goals.

They were good performances and good results, unfortunately we didn’t end up qualifying for the next round of the Europa League but we gave it our best shot.

“We’ve got 11 games left and want to succeed in those games. We’ve done well of late. I think we’ve been playing some good stuff – we’re still improving.”

Whilst it could be argued that Swansea were playing an under strength team and that Zenit were already confident of brushing Liverpool aside and so opted not to put full effort into the game, Liverpool showed that they are able to achieve results as both of these were thrilling matches which opened a slight ray of hope for Reds fans, on a horizon that was getting increasingly darker. Whilst speaking to the official website, Henderson voiced his opinion on whether Liverpool could clinch a top four spot.

“We’ll give it our best shot. We know it will be difficult but we still believe we can do it. The coming games will be a good chance for us to showcase what we want to achieve.”

Liverpool will need to cut down Arsenal (who currently lie in 5th place) and their 8 point advantage to even get into the Europa Cup before they embark on their increasingly difficult challenge to get 4th place.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

I would believe too if Henderson was dropped ! We should have signed Sneidjer and we would have been in a much better position right now. Top four is unrealistic and Henderson can take the blame along with downing and johnson (recently)instead of opening his mouth to the press.

Thats a bit harsh on Henderson and Johnson isnt it ?? The main blame for this miserable season should be at the door of the manager , for his naive system and poor team selections . And the consistently poor Allen and Downing

What an idiot Dave is. Bet he’s never been to Anfield this season. If he had he wouldn’t spout such rubbish.

… again , very childish . Calling people names and making assumptions because your little opinions dont match his .

I hope you are a teenager , because it would be very sad if your an adult

  • Raymond says:

in that case why were we not aiming for top 4 at the start of the season? why do we aim for it from the second half of the season?now can we win the remaining 11 matches? i think we can..it all depends on how BR picks his team ..
