Liverpool defenderACCORDING to Sky Sports News, Liverpool’s Martin Skrtel has announced that if he receives any offers from other clubs, he will take his Anfield future into serious consideration after a frustrating 2013.

The Slovakian fell behind the now-retired Jamie Carragher in the pecking order this year, meaning his appearances have been limited to a mere four starts in 2013. Some may argue that Carragher’s retirement might offer a lifeline for Skrtel, however the Reds are now rumoured to be in pursuit of Manchester City’s Kolo Toure, as well as being closely liPreviewnked with Kyriakos Papadopoulos.

Skrtel arrived in 2008 under Rafa Benitez for £6 million, but noise of the potential signings have left Skrtel’s future uncertain despite him only renewing his contract in August.

Speaking to Slovakian newspaper Dennik Sport he stated: “I have not had any specific offers. But if some should come and they interest me, I would probably ponder it seriously.”

However, Skrtel is not overjoyed about the prospect of departing Liverpool, as the 28 year old wishes to respect his contract with the club. When asked what percentage there was that he was to stay at the club, Skrtel replied:

“I do not want to be that specific. The club has the biggest say in this in any case, because they have the right for it with me being contracted.

“Besides, I am not saying that I want to leave at any cost. I feel sorry for what happened in this season. But I have been here for five-and-a-half years and I have built a position here.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

Brendan Rodgers will never get Liverpool in the top four. Long suffering and knowledgable Liverpool supporters will look back at the post Benitez/Dalglish era and pinpoint appointments such as Rodgers, Borini, Assaidi, Yesil etc. and a number of average players as the reason why the bottom half of the log and possible relegation are looming larger than ever. By the way Skrtel never deserved to take a backseat to Carragher.

Martin Skrtel-should not have taken backseat to Carra,Carra had his fair share of starting,if brendan believes we needed more leadership by sitting Skrtel out,he is fooling no one,Martin has been at our club for 5 years and has made it his club, sad how BR has his favourites!!!
and as for his signings such as allen and the price tag on the fella he needs to consider offloading the junk-positive signing Coutinho, sturridge, hopefully he can sign lucas the left back of lille, peace
