Toure LiverpoolLIVERPOOL FC have confirmed the club have agreed a deal with Manchester City’s Kolo Toure on a free transfer, with Toure becoming an official Liverpool player on July 1st when his current contract runs out.

The 32 year old has already garnered over 11 years of Premiership action, starting in 2002 when he joined Arsenal from ASEC Mimosas where he actually made his debut in English football against Liverpool in the Community Shield.

Toure went on to win the league with Arsenal in the 2003/4 season and also collected an FA Cup medal that same season, as well as in 2005.

After over 200 games for the Gunners Toure was widely regarded as one of the most efficient defensive centre-backs in the league, and it was Manchester City that swooped in to claim Toure’s signature in 2009.

He was then immediately granted the privilege of being club captain. In his time at City, Toure claimed yet another FA Cup medal and steered City towards their first league win in 44 years in the 2011/12 season.

Toure’s talent has also been appreciated by his national side, Ivory Coast, as he has played for the national side in two African Cup of Nations tournaments, as well as two World Cups over more than a century of caps, having been captain for some of his national team games.

When Toure becomes an official Liverpool player he will become the first Ivorian to ever play for the club.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

I know a lot of people will complain about this signing, and of course he isn’t as good as he was at Arsenal, but he’s only 32, no transfer fee, masses of experience, can play in different positions, is vocal and a good signing for me. He’s mostly going to be a backup, and we’re sure to sign another center back (perhaps Papa) and it’s also time that Kelly was given a chance and we ve wisdom & Coates (though don’t know if he stays). Good, sensible, pragmatic signing.

Am I the only person not happy that Liverpool have signed a drug cheat ???

The guy is a mercenary and has sat on the bench for 2 years at city , with no interest in a move to try and get 1st team football

The great man and loyal servant Jamie carragher is being replaced by a drug cheat !!

      Disgraceful .
