Kick-Off: 16:00

WITH neither Liverpool nor QPR having anything to play for in Sunday’s game, all eyes will be on Jamie Carragher at Anfield as the Reds legend plays his 737th and final game for the club.

Carragher will captain the side in the absence of Steven Gerrard, and earlier this week Liverpool revealed details of how they plan to honour the 35-year-old on Sunday.

Prior to kick-off, players from both Liverpool and QPR will form a guard of honour for Carragher, who will be accompanied onto the pitch by his two children. The Kop will be asked to hold up cards to create a “JC 23” mosaic and Carragher will be presented with a gift on behalf of QPR.

At the conclusion of the game, Steven Gerrard and Ian Callaghan – Liverpool’s all-time record appearance maker – will make a presentation to Carragher and they will each say a few words about the legendary number 23. Carragher himself will then address the crowd before the players and staff embark on their traditional end-of-season lap of honour around the pitch.

Liverpool will be without Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Daniel Agger on Sunday, but Martin Skrtel could be available after missing last weekend’s win at Fulham through illness. QPR will have striker Loic Remy available despite his midweek arrest on suspicion of rape. However Harry Redknapp will be unable to call on Adel Taarabt, Shaun Wright-Phillips and DJ Campbell.

The Reds will be confident of ending the season with a win as they go into Sunday’s game unbeaten in their last seven fixtures. In comparison, bottom of the table QPR have not won any of their last eight matches and have scored just one goal in their last five games – Loic Remy’s penalty against Newcastle last weekend.

Liverpool beat QPR 3-0 at Loftus Road earlier in the season, courtesy of two goals from Suarez and one from Agger. This time around, Daniel Sturridge will be hoping to add to his tally after scoring a hat trick in Liverpool’s win over Fulham.

With the season almost over, a seventh-place finish will be seen as a disappointment for Liverpool, albeit a fair reflection of their season. However since January, Liverpool have scored more goals than any other Premier League team, and only Arsenal and Manchester City have a better second-half season than the Reds.

That is in no small part due to the impact of January signings Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho, and another win on Sunday will leave Liverpool looking ahead to next season optimistically.
