Andy Carroll: Property Empire or return to the Kingdom?

Image for Andy Carroll: Property Empire or return to the Kingdom?

Carroll LiverpoolLUIS Suarez has bitten the dust for the first six games of next season and now the door is open for someone. Could that someone be Andy Carroll?

From the start I have always maintained that Mr Rodgers didn’t give Mr Carroll a chance. He has not given a £35m investment a chance to succeed.

He should have.

He should have treated that £35m as his own money. He should have given him a chance to shine in the shop window and then sold him! Brendan could have seen the positives of a plan B and given Andy as a squad role as he does have value. Maybe he thought a star role at West Ham would be a better shop window?

Now Suarez is away, Andy could really stake a claim with a six game run in the side. Would you like to see Andy get a start the first six games of next season?

Rodgers doesn’t see Carroll as a real option. He doesn’t want or like him as a player and that’s the end of that! Or is it? Maybe Andy upset Brendan Rodgers with statements about liking a drink and not seeing drinking alcohol as a problem. Maybe Andy has had the arrogance kicked out of him as quickly as his meteoric rise instilled it into him. Maybe Brendan has made his point and now Carroll can come back?

The old story about Andy buying a house in Liverpool suggesting he is coming back to LFC has resurfaced. The economy is such that there has never been a better time to buy property. Maybe Andy is just getting himself a retirement nest egg? Rental yields are amazing right now as property is cheap. Especially tempting for those who don’t need to worry about mortgages e.g. cash rich footballers. Maybe he thinks if he follows the footsteps of Fowler and McManaman off the pitch he might be as good as them on the pitch…worth a go!

So many times newspapers claim players are buying houses in a particular area because they are moving clubs – it’s just silly!

In my opinion Suarez being banished from the Kingdom will not see the young Knight, Andy Carroll, return as the prodigal son. Brendan Rodgers made it clear when the round table was almost deserted that there still wasn’t space for him, so now with Borini, Sturridge and Coutinho there I doubt Andy will be welcomed back.

That being said, he may be back all the same if no one else wants to pay the king’s ransom required.

An armchair fan who loves the stadium experience but likes the bread and butter of replays, moronic pundits, a drink in a pub atmosphere. LFC is my religion.

Common sense is missing from football but the situation is always complicated so I endeavour to give opinion and encourage discussion and thought about LFC.

I have always been an Andy Carroll fan and felt he wasn’t given a fair run out under Rodgers. For a side full of the wee people, he seems an excellent choice; not only is he tall but he is also physical and is effective in the air. Not only is he dominant in the center of the pitch, he is also important on defense to a Liverpool side that is often suspect on set pieces. Give him those 6 games and see what he can do with them.

It seems that the mickey mousers can’t stop getting it wrong with Big Andy! First the fee! Then not playing to his strengths! Brenda saying he has no future! And finally when he joins a team who fully appreciate him and are at last bringing the best out of him! The final insult! “We didn’t mean it! And you’d be better off as a sub with us after all! And you wonder why people question your arrogance? If you could admit to making a mistake in the first place you would not have been involved in half as many fiasco’s in the first place! And no I’m not a Manc! So here goes your standard defence!

Rodgers is clueless. He won’t give Carroll a chance – that means 35m down the toilet

Carrolls a hundred times better than Borini

    • BryanLFC says:

Yeah mate i completely agree with you. Carroll s a hundred times better tan borini. Besides Andy is a strong, tall and effective forward, specially in the air. We need him. And he’s Young. I think he could be a good proyect.

  • Paul says:

Based on style of play, even though Carroll is something different we no longer have players in the system fitting the style of play for him to flourish, although he is a little like Crouch in the sense he can play on the floor he lacks technical ability needed to play for LFC now.
Although things haven’t worked out for him, and with his resale likely to be £17m, based on the £57m investment in both him and Suarez, vs future resale values the club would break even, and have saved a couple of mill in salaries over the period too.

Its funny cos at first I taut Carroll Wasn gud enuff, den jus wen he was starting to show his potential he gets flogged off.Rodgers is out of his depth, playing Allen and borini every week lost us a lot of momentum,he tried to justify wasting so much money on dem and those fans dat think next season wil be great are dillusional,Rodgers wil start Allen soon as he is back fit and in sum way fit borini in,Carroll wil never get s chance an next season wil be more steps backwards I’m afraid

    • vin says:

Agreed. The sooner this rodgers nightmare era ends the better . Carroll could be good for next boss

  • Jack says:

I’ll be quite happy to see Andy return – hopefully with a new manager that will get the best out of him

I do not agree with this article. We scored more that 20 goals more than last season this season. Thinking of all the wasted opportunities which left us frustrated last season, I think one can easily conclude that Carroll’s snub was a good decision. He has had a lot of games last season and should have scored more than 4 goals all season long.

I do not think he would get better chance to play now with Sturridge scoring hat-tricks.
Carroll can become a good player, who has what it takes to become a top player but these specific qualities cannot be exploited by a team playing the way LFC plays these days.

We do need another striker but I think Remy would suit us better than Carroll does.

    Carroll is better than Borini
    Rafa is better than Rodgers

    Lets do em both

  • Hal says:

The system we play does not fit for AC. Plus once Suarez is back he would be on the bench all the time behind, Suarez, Sturridge, and Coutinho. We scored a bunch of goals this year and are playing very good football just inconsistently at the moment.

I am still at a loss for what people see in Rafa, he won a champions league with a team he inherited and gave us Lucas. What else did he do besides ruin Torres and sell Alonso at his peak?

    • kav says:

That really is one of the dumbest comments in the history of the internet era

      Are you that stupid ????

Rafa was fantastic . 1 million times better than the clown we have now

  • Denis D says:

B Rodgers needs to ship out these 8 average dead wood players in the summer:Who are simply not good enough to be first team regulars and offer very little competition to the players who play in their position. NOT A Carroll

    1: GK: Jones 2:RB: Flanagan 3: CB: Coates 4:CB: Wilson 5:DM: Spearing

    6:FD: Pacheco 7:FD:Borini 8: RW /RWF: Assaidi

These 8 players are simply not good enough class or quality to play for the club, then the owners need to back B Rodgers with some serious investment(£100-£130) to bring in 11 class quality players to change whole dimension of squad and to bring depth to squad,

Between Summer and January Transfer window

These 11 players would take club to next level: And A Caroll(23) should be recalled to side, if club bring in two more wingers. we can play the 4 3 3 way still or the 4 2 3 1 way, but then we could also play 4 4 2 with orthodoxed wingers who hug touchline and cross ball into box for big target man. (Plan B/ Carroll)

    Six Defensive Players:

1: GK: A Mccarthy(23) Of Reading for £3-£5m to come and compete with Reina
2: CB: M Richards(25) Of Man City for £10-£14M to compete with Skrtel
3: CB: A Williams(28) Of Swansea for £7-£11M to compete with Agger.
4: CB: A Pearce(25) Of Reading on Free Transfer
5: LB: S Umtiti (19) Of Lyon Not Lucas Digne, for £4-£7M to compete with Enrique
6: DM: E Capoue(24) Of Toulouse for £6-£9M to compete and Cover Lucas

Those 6 defensive players are desperately needed as there is no real class, quality competition for places at back and with loyal great serving legend Carragher retiring in the summer, some solid defensive recruits are needed to solidify the back. Those 6 players would cost our club between £30-£46M. That would be for now and the future of the club

    Five attacking players:

7: CM: De Guzman Of Villareal for £3-£7M to compete with Allen, Gerrard and Henderson

8: AM: C Eriksen(21) Of Ajax, I Munian(20) Of A Bilbao, H Mkhitaryan Of Shakhtar Donesk, Isco(20) Of Malaga, One of those 4 attacking midfielders needs to be brought for £17-£24M as our Marquee signing in Summer, to compete with Coutinho, Shelvey and Suso for the AM position in side

9: RW / RWF: J Montero(23) Of Monarcas Morelia Or C Tello(21) Of Barcelona, one of these pacey quick skillful wingers should be brought to club for £5-£9M to compete with Sterling next season

10: LW / LWF: D Capel(25) Of Sporing Clube De Portugal / Sporting Lisbon for £5-£8M to compete with Downing for the Left wing position

11: FD: L Remy(26) Of QPR for £5-£7M to compete A Carroll, D Sturridge and L Suarez for a forward position / role in side.

Those five attacking players would bring more class quality competition for places to rank and we would have more quality choices to choose from, these five players would individually bring more class and quality than the three attackers i have said B Rodgers needs to ship out in the summer: Assaidi, Borini and Pacheco.

In De Guzman, Montero or Tello, Capel, Hopefully Eriksen and Remy, there is 5 class, quality attacking players with mobility, speed, creativity and goals within them.

These five attacking players would cost our club: £35- £55M , Less than what chelsea spent on Hazard and Oscar last summer, less than what Man City spent on Aguero and Nasri two seasons ago.

So those 11 players would change whole dimension of squad, but would cost club between £65- £102M to get us back amongst the two Manchester clubs.

As currently the two Manchester Clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Everton have better squads than us, And the league shows that.

And for last 5 seasons we have just been competing for a top 6-10 position with Everton, fulham and Stoke. As our squad cannot compete with the other five at the moment and over the course of the season the strength of your squad and the mentality of players at club shows in the table come the middle of May
