LFC Captain GerrardLIVERPOOL captain Steven Gerrard has admitted to Liverpool’s official website that he is very excited at the prospect of Brendan Rodgers’ new signings.

Liverpool have already confirmed four exciting summer signings, with Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto and most recently Simon Mignolet making the move to Anfield, and Gerrard has admitted he is impressed with the speed with which the club have concluded their summer transfer business so far.

The skipper also thinks that Liverpool supporters have reason to be excited for the next season.

Speaking at a charity golf day in Portugal, Gerrard said: “Especially with the news of us making a few signings, I’m really looking forward to getting started. It’s always important to get faces in as soon as possible; they can get a full pre-season under their belt, get to know the lads and how the manager wants to play.

“There are some exciting names in there so everyone is excited.”

Gerrard has openly admitted that he has not seen much of the Spanish signings, Alberto and Aspas, in action but maintains confidence in Brendan Rodgers’ transfer judgement.

“I know very little about them, but I have got a lot belief and confidence in Brendan and the scouting department that they are going to make the right decisions and I have seen bits and bobs of new signings we have made

“I am really looking forward to getting back to work next week and seeing what the new players have got to offer and see if they can help strengthen our squad to put in a better fight for a top-four finish.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

  • Raam says:

For the sake of SG, BR and LFC should at least get a couple of well known players who can help SG lift a few more trophies before he steps down. I personally wish to see him win the EPL crown at least once. He deserves it more than anyone else.

Yeah,he has to be excited for the ne faces but in my opinion the Manager and his Managing Director have to fight for Mukhitaryan. He is magnicent player which any team would like to have.I’ll be happy if Liverpool will sign him.

What can Gerrard do if he feels those are lousy players ??? He is the captain and have to say nice things even for Roy Hodgson . Anyway, we should remember Gerrard famous “golf trick” comment for Joe Cole.

Gerrard will always come out with the politically correct statements, he’s not exactly gonna come out publicly and say ‘we’ve signed more sh**!’ Inwardly he’s probably crying his heart out.
