Rafa & the managerial merry-go-round helps restore normality

Rafa UEFA CupNOW I would rather shoot myself then support Chelsea. The years of Rafa’s Liverpool vs arrogant Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea left me with a major dislike of them. Yet, when Rafa became interim manager for them I didn’t hold it against him. Everyone needs to eat.

When Rafa was overlooked by the Liverpool hierarchy for a second time he must have given up hope of ever returning to the club.

When a manager who had not won anything comparable got the job he must have been disappointed…I know I was. I found it hard not to wish Rafa well.

With each passing boo from Chelsea fans directed at Rafa I found it that little bit easier to wish him, and so Chelsea, well.

Things that upset Chelsea fans sometimes please Liverpool fans and Rafa doing well is usually one of those things. That being true even when he was the Chelsea manager – interim manager that is. By winning with Chelsea it was as though Rafa was able to ram the words and actions of Chelsea fans down their throats.

Now Rafa has re-established himself as one of the best managers on the planet and found a suitable project in Italy. Jose is coming back to Chelsea and normality can resume and I can return to wishing them general ill. Well done Rafa!

Alex Ferguson’s big regret when retiring was his inability to remove Liverpool FC from our European perch. He ‘only’ managed two Champions League triumphs making it a total of 3 for Manchester United. Not a great return for all their dominant years. We have 5. In 26 years Ferguson managed two but Rafa managed one in far less time. Thank you Rafa, for leaving that chip firmly on Fergie’s shoulder!

Another manager currently making headlines is Roberto Martinez. In my opinion Martinez was, and is not, good enough for Liverpool. I was one of the fans who were amazed he was linked with us and thanked god when he didn’t get the job but at the same time wondered how Rodgers did!

Wigan have been relegation fodder for years but managed the great escape again and again. Their luck ran out and I will not cry for them. They are a selling club who didn’t learn their lessons from last year’s close call. I accept he didn’t have much money to spend and he has just won the FA Cup so deserves some credit for that, but I am sure all Wigan fans rather they stayed up in the Premiership.

Liverpool FC can thank God we did not get Martinez and be very pleased Everton might!

An armchair fan who loves the stadium experience but likes the bread and butter of replays, moronic pundits, a drink in a pub atmosphere. LFC is my religion.

Common sense is missing from football but the situation is always complicated so I endeavour to give opinion and encourage discussion and thought about LFC.

Big season for us. With Rogers in charge of spending big! And yes, Carrol and Suarez fee combined, you are talking big. Heaven help the club. This will be the last season we spend 60-70 million pounds for sometime. I don’t trust Rogers and wish Rafa came home. A world class manager with 3 euro trophies won at 3 clubs. Had to prove himself once again after the Inter saga.
Oh well, another mediocre season awaits.

Yes, and joe Allen is just like messi… Only difference is, he comes from Wales .

chip on his shoulder comment made me chuckle fair play i like smart articles means sifting through the laborious bull of the plastic flag waving articles worth while especially in the closed season.

Cheers fella, welcomed feedback. Got two with editor, hope you like them too.

Silly season is all about sifting the good from well bad! Read about us buying a Greek lad who’s spent most year injured and had a serious anger management issue for £15+mil..happy days!

    “Everyone needs to eat.”

I may be wrong, but I truly believe that he has received several millions of pounds from us as a pay-off. That should feed him and his family for not only his life-span, but also the next two to five generations.

The years if fine dining in Liverpool have left him with a very expensive taste!!
On a serious note anteater, are you saying he shouldn’t have accepted the Chelski job or I shouldn’t have wished him well or both, or none of the above??

I think even Martinez is a better manager than Rodgers. At least Martinez has won something

  • Kevin Messam says:

I think if Suarez does leave , we will have the money to buy suitable replacements. Providing we don’t accept less than £55mil

I cant stop wondering why that mad Russian didnt continue with Rafa. He is one of those managers who can work miracles with ordinary players. Even if deep inside me feeled relieved, but its an insult to a great person like Rafa. And i dont understand why call someone special if he can only perform when tons of money have to be invested on a bus load of players. And when the so call special person departs elswhere, the team doesn’t perform. If given the same amount of money not only Rafa, even Roberto d’Mateo can bring special moments and success to any team. If you ask anyone, theres nothing special about that.

Rafa won’t last long in Italy , they never do.
    Bring back Rafa next summer

  • Brigadier says:

Dont you Rafa-ites ever let go and move on? Stop embarassing yourselves, LFC wasnt formed in 2005. He was a moderate manager who won 2 trophies in 6 years, bloody move on you sad losers!

    • Geoff says:

He made us competitive every year . We were always challenging for trophies

Only for financial restrictions he would have done a lot better

Look at the state of us now ! Mid table team with useless Brenda.
Would you really prefer Rodgers to rafa ?

      Brigadier u r a PLONKA, shut the _____ up!

      • Brigadier says:

Do some research and stop re-writing history, Benitez finished in the top four just four times in 6 years, he finished 7th in his last season, won just 2 trophies in 6, yes SIX years. Read the FACTS you dimwit! Whats your response to that? Years of fine dining? You must have low expectations in life!

        • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

2 trophies in 6years? where the hell did u get that farce from? try nd explain or better still name the two nd i will do the rest. make a proper research pls.
