Would Tevez equal more trouble?

Manchester CityLUIS Suarez is jogging towards the exit door, smiling in a cheeky Ken Dodd way. The papers suggest a replacement could be a fellow South American with an equally (some would say ‘vile’) issue-laden history, Carlos Tevez.

Carlos Tevez is the same man who was surrounded by controversy when his move to West Ham resulted in them staying up with a hefty fine as the deal to sign him was not completely ‘kosher’. It’s hardly his fault his ‘ownership’ was ‘complicated’.

Then he moved to Man United and upset them when he moved to Man City. Fergie never offered to keep him or he never paid attention when the offer was made.

At Man City he refused to play in a Champions league game as he didn’t want to come on as a sub. He missed out on around half a year of football, apologized and was back in the City fold.

Roy Evans, Graeme Souness and others took exception to this and were critical but if a pundit can’t take a cheap shot at a foreigner then…well, what else can they do? Pundits are easily critical of players like Tevez; in my opinion they just see foreigners as free range cannon fodder and it’s always open season.

Last summer Carlos Tevez came back a stone lighter. He used his holiday to give himself every chance of having a successful year with Man City. He is 29 years old and hasn’t been in the news for anything untoward for a while. I would say he has grown up! Carlos Tevez, in my opinion, has not lived up to his promise and potential. His name should be up there with the best but it seems to be off the pace. I think people deserve a second chance.

I for one would not have a problem with this bad boy of football coming to Liverpool FC. He is determined, gives 100% and is talented. At 29 years old he has grown up and his silly days seem to be behind him. Yet, there is no way I can see him joining Liverpool FC right now.

His reported wages of £200k a week means we would not fit in our wage structure. Unless he was to accept a wage cut, and hope to make up the losses by image rights and the attention being Liverpool FC’s main striker affords him, I can’t see that happening.

At under £9 million he would be a wise purchase in my opinion. He has fans and would attract positive attention towards LFC unlike some players.

Now; I know he played for Man United. Nonetheless, he has upset Manchester United like no one else ever has and that for me makes him a friend of LFC. After all: the enemy of my enemy is surely my friend?

An armchair fan who loves the stadium experience but likes the bread and butter of replays, moronic pundits, a drink in a pub atmosphere. LFC is my religion.

Common sense is missing from football but the situation is always complicated so I endeavour to give opinion and encourage discussion and thought about LFC.

Tevez would be a good signing at that price! He scores, provides assists, works hard and I think he thrives when he is considered the number 1 striker which has not happend for a while. If he is happy to come and stay then great. I still would prefer Mario Gomez or Higiuin.

It’s not going to happen. He didn’t even want to stay at City who are chasing trophies and playin CL. He will never come here. It’s a made up story , no truth in it at all.

“kosher”? Keep the English language sober pliz as it derived ONLY from French and not ….

Superb player, especially in the big games. He works hard throughout the 90 mins and will alway look to play in his team mates. He’s a player who appreciates star names playing alongside him but can get frustrated with less talented individuals. He’s over his problems now and may be up to staying in the prem, but I think the lure of Italy will be too much for him and a move to Milan or even Juve seems likely. Kia Joorabchian always has a lot of say as to what Carlos does next. Also, Pellegrini fancies him and will probably ask him to stay, and it will be interesting to see how he responds. Whatever the outcome, he will want Champions League football for his last big contract in Europe, before returning to Boca.

What’s changed? Wife ready to stay in England ? The rain stopped in liverpool? Is he getting a divorce or finally wearing the trousers at home?
Bottom line is, he wants out of country. More trouble than he is worth it.

I suspect his agent putting up stories to trump up interest. Most clubs can’t afford his wages, and he is looking for publicity. Not the answer to our problems, shouldn’t even be linked with our club.

I don’t believe for one minute that this club would even try and sign Tevez, and judging by some of out whiter than white fans, I believe our next signing needs to be a monk.

  • Leighton says:

Erin and Brigadier are spot on. He would be more trouble than his worth and I cannot see any possibility of it materialising.
