Liverpool targetACCORDING to The Mirror, Liverpool have made Valencia striker Roberto Soldado a priority signing, as a replacement for Luis Suarez whose desire to leave Anfield has been spread far and wide.

Liverpool are not the only Premiership club who have expressed an interest in the Spaniard, with Spurs also in the hunt.

However, Liverpool appear to have the advantage as Spurs are thought to be unhappy over the asking price for Soldado, a figure of around £26 million.

The Reds have not made an official approach to Valencia yet, but Spurs’ reluctance will give the club a bigger incentive to make a move.

Valencia have already rejected a £22 million from the Londoners after they sent technical director Franco Baldini over to try and iron out a deal, and the club have set a deadline of August 3rd to conclude the deal for tax reasons.

Liverpool have been interested in Soldado as a replacement for Luis Suarez, with the Uruguayan telling the club he wants his future sorted out within the next 48 hours.

Soldado has proven himself to be an impressive goalscorer, notching 30 goals in 46 appearances for Valencia last season and 81 goals in 141 appearances since his move from Getafe in June 2010.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

£26m for a 28 year old?? Would rather go for younger forwards like Luis Muriel or Burak Yilmaz who are cheaper and more exciting.

  • Mmj says:

I agree and Muriel has got everything lfc need.

  • Ryan says:

Because rvp turned out to be a big mistake at 28.

  • Simonchris says:

Muriel will certainly be better signing over Soldado

  • Funnie says:

If lfc is sure of selling suarez for £50m then the proceeds can be used to buy muriel & soldado dont for get lfc also need experienced players if there will b any hope of breakn into top 4 next season. Pls let them buy any these players first and lets see all we hear is just stories!

Before the Suarez transfer saga heat up, mr roger mention it is now the club is looking to sign 2 to 3 new experience and exciting players that can fit into the KFC first eleven for this season??? To date I don’t see that happening…. With that, I don’t see the club is capable to challenge for a top 4 finish with man c n u , Chelsea , arsenal n spurs. For player like Suarez unless the club can prove to him it iis serious to challenge with the top 4 side- if not most properly he will leave the club
