brazilLIVERPOOL boss Brendan Rodgers has took to Liverpoolfc.com to heap praise on young Brazilian Philippe Coutinho, after the youngster produced another impressive display against Thailand.

The 21 year old has already garnered three goals in Liverpool’s pre-season, against Preston North End, Indonesia XI and most recently Thailand, leading the manager to joke that he would even pay, to see him play.

Coutinho showed his individual skill with his goal on Sunday in particular, and these performances have earned him the praise from the man in charge.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Rodgers said:

“Coutinho had me up off my seat. He’s a player you would pay money to watch. He’s just a delight on the ball. There was real quality in the final third. I thought that part of our game, on a difficult pitch and in that heat, was very good.

“Some of our football was fluent and the movement was clever. We have some outstanding talents who can make the difference.”

Liverpool’s pre-season campaign has produced nothing but positive signs, with the Reds winning all of their games without conceding a single goal.

This euphoria will hopefully remain with the Reds when they kick off their Premiership campaign against Stoke City on August 17th at Anfield.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

Lets see how we do in the new season. Cautinho is a good player agree. If we fail this time in reaching CL then he will, like Suarez look for greener fields.
We need big signings to get this team forward, but with FSG at the helm we will be playing EL next year if we are lucky.
Even Suarez has supposedly stated that he is not impressed with the new signings this year.
I fear 6th spot no more

  • Brigadier says:

How long before Coutinho wants CL football and a chance to ‘win things’? We’ve seen it all before, Brenda wont deliver CL football and Coutinho will want out next year. So predictable.

  • Sirwhite1000 says:

  • allaboutanfield says:

BR is nothing but hot air . He is good at saying certain things the owners and fans want to hear. We know he does not have money to buy big players. Just look at how many players snub him since he took over last year. I wonder how long he can keep his job.

  • Smartt says:

So wat at all is wrong wit u guys. U dnt seem to b a lfc fan. U only knw hw to criticise nd nothin more.
