ACCORDING to a report from The Daily Mirror, Liverpool’s long time target Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s current club Shakhtar Donetsk have revealed that, although they want a £25.5 million fee for the Armenian, he has the option to break his contract and force a cut price deal to Anfield meaning Liverpool would have to pay £20 million.
Mkhitaryan is reportedly unhappy with the Ukranian outfit, as he is absolutely insistent on plying his trade in one of the most dominant European football leagues and this dispute has culminated in the midfielder not turning up for pre-season training, despite Donetsk issuing daily fines for his absence.
Although a fee was thought to have been already agreed by the clubs, Shakhtar have put a valuation of £25.5 million on Mkhitaryan, but the club’s reluctant chief executive Sergei Palkin has revealed that there is a clause in his contract that could see the midfielder buy himself out of his contract in order to push for a £20 million deal with another club.
Palkin, explaining this option, said: “Mkhitaryan doesn’t have a release clause in his contract, but it does spell out the penalties for unilateral termination of the contract, which is equal to $30m (£19.8m).
“If Mkhitaryan wants to terminate the contract, he must pay Shakhtar $30m and go to a club that he likes.
“If we go in a civilized manner and sell the player, and in doing so he does not break the contract, the value we place on him is 30million euros (£25.5m).”
Mkhitaryan has not broken his contract yet, as he is waiting for Liverpool’s next approach, and will wait until the Reds and Donetsk come to an agreement before cutting ties with the club.

I think the deal will go ahead ONLY IF Suarez goes to R. Madrid or Reina goes to Barca. 25m is too much for FSG. Can’t you see the tricky trick by stingy FSG ??? Or put it another way, it is basically H & G v2 i.e. “you have to sell before spending”
By the way, I don’t rate Mkhitaryan much. He could be one season wonder at lower league. I fear he could be another expensive mistake like Andy Carrol.
Why is £25 million to much for FSG…they paid £35 million for carroll?? but like you stated i think they had their finger burnt with the money KK spent and now BR is paying for that when it comes to a large fee.
That 35m was from Torres 50m transfer money.

Henrik is a quality player.he was UPL best last season.City spent 30m on Ferdinandinho who was n’t his match.pls,BR should get him.
