Rodgers can’t be scared to conduct a mass overhaul at LFC

Image for Rodgers can’t be scared to conduct a mass overhaul at LFC

Liverpool trainingSHAPING a football squad for an upcoming season is tough enough when making four or five signings.

So to a manager the idea of incorporating TEN players into the squad in one summer must feel like hell, especially with the pressures nowadays to succeed (there’s no place for a five year cushion of complacency like Ferguson had in the late 80s, yet look at what he achieved after that).

There are few managers in the world that experience the weight of pressure and expectation compared to a Liverpool manager, even with the fans sympathising with our current predicament.

This is the situation Brendan Rodgers finds himself in.

The general consensus is that Liverpool should at least push for a top-four finish this season. To achieve that, the squad needs to be strengthened further, even with the signings already brought in this summer. Players that have been too inconsistent still remain at Liverpool and need to be sold, to be replaced with players of greater quality, or at least potential.

There are a few areas of the squad where this problem persists.

The goalkeeping situation is healthy with the acquisition of Simon Mignolet from Sunderland to battle with current no.1 Pepe Reina. This seems like a decent move, as Mignolet is young, enjoyed a productive season at Sunderland despite their relegation struggles and can definitely improve. Meanwhile, Reina has undeniably been on the slide, slowly but surely, since Rafael Benitez (as well as goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero) left the club in 2010.

However, whilst genuine competition for the position is fantastic, and could lead to Reina finding his best form, if money is needed to buy players in other positions, then Reina should be sold – although only for decent money (£10m+). Any player(s) bought could help lead Liverpool to top four in the league – instead of one of either Reina/Mignolet sitting on the bench.

At fullback, Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique are talented, but frustratingly inconsistent. There are young players on the sidelines who can step up, particularly Martin Kelly and Andre Wisdom, but both seem destined to play at centre back in the future, while Jon Flanagan and Jack Robinson are just not at the level required. Consequently, at least one fullback is needed who can provide that assured, seven-to-eight out of ten performance every time they step out onto the pitch. Robinson and Flanagan can be sold or loaned.

Players like Lucas Digne from Lille would be fantastic, but Liverpool’s finances are likely to be dwarfed by Monaco, Galatasaray or PSG. A more realistic option would be Aly Cissokho from Valencia, who, for the small fee quoted by the Mirror (£4m), would definitely be worth a gamble. If he brought his best to England, he could provide those consistent, strong performances needed. Combined with Johnson and Kelly (and Wisdom) on the right and Enrique on the left, Cissokho would provide us with the necessary quality and depth to finish in the top four.

Moving on to the heart of the defence – the centre-backs. Liverpool are in serious need of reinforcements in this area as Daniel Agger is our only centre-back who is assured of a place next season. Martin Skrtel has fallen out of favour with Brendan Rodgers, although it would still take a sizeable fee for him to be sold, while Sebastian Coates hasn’t really made the grade at Liverpool, characterized by his torrid display against Oldham in the FA Cup. If Rodgers doesn’t trust Skrtel at the highest level anymore, then any bid of £12m+ should be taken (Rafa seems to be keen to take Skrtel to Napoli). Coates can be sold, but the fee may well be small compared to the £8m Kenny Dalglish paid to bring him from Nacional. Therefore a loan may well be the best option, preferably in the Premier League where he can get regular football and show whether he can cut it at this level.

Regarding replacements, Liverpool have been linked with Tiago Ilori of Sporting Lisbon, although there have been problems concerning the transfer fee, with Sporting holding out for over £8m and Liverpool only offering £5m. Chelsea are supposedly interested too.
[ad_pod id=”unruly-video” align=”center”]
Other defenders linked have been Kyriakos Papadopoulos of Schalke and Toby Alderweireld of Ajax. Signing two of these players, especially Papadopoulos and Alderweireld, combined with Agger and Kolo Toure, would send out a serious statement to the rest of the league. Despite shifting around at the back, which is always risky, we would possess real quality and depth in our four centre-backs, ready for a top four push.

Two formations, 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 are likely to be the two Rodgers utilises throughout this season, with an attacking midfielder operating ahead of two who are more likely to break up attacks, hold the fort and distribute the ball, starting Liverpool’s attacks. The two players set to undertake this more defensive role are Lucas Leiva and Captain Fantastic – Steven Gerrard.

I have always seen Lucas as more of a Hamann than a Mascherano, quietly patrolling the midfield and preventing danger for the defence, while Gerrard looks to get the ball rolling with either short direct passes, or long raking passes out wide – the ones he seems to execute to perfection. Whilst there is lack of pace between the two, the more vibrant and energetic Jordan Henderson can be brought on in this area as well as Joe Allen, who can distribute the ball as well as anyone on his day. Both are improving, and are good back-ups.

However, one area that Rodgers isn’t looking at yet, but should, is an alternative to Lucas. Players like Jay Spearing in the past have been our only genuine like-for-like back-up, and none have been able to deputise effectively. A player like Mohamed Diame would fit the bill perfectly, again giving us that depth needed to challenge the top four.

Sadly, our pursuit of Henrikh Mkhitaryan was futile, as after a devilish load of transfer wrangling, the player has joined Borussia Dortmund and apparently Liverpool never had a chance to speak to the player. A great shame, but there are plenty more fish in the sea. Christian Eriksen is cheaper at roughly £15m (Mkhitaryan would have been £20m+) and now Dortmund are no longer interested in Eriksen, as they have Mkhitaryan.

Eriksen is simply class and Liverpool should go out immediately and put in a bid to demonstrate their serious interest to Ajax and the player. Not getting caught up in another debacle like with Mkhitaryan is essential, while Eriksen would hopefully settle quickly with familiar faces like compatriot Daniel Agger and old team-mate Luis Suarez. He would bring the quality that Mkhitaryan would have brought, but at a cheaper price, and would be a big name signing to further signal our top four intentions.

So, last but not least, the main issue (or headache): the mind of Luis Suarez.

Whether he genuinely hates life in England or just wants to move to a club with Champions League football, Liverpool need to sort his future out, and fairly quickly too. If he is to stay, he has to stay committed to Liverpool and to give his best. Who knows, he might be playing in the Champions League next season with Liverpool if he performs. However, another forward is needed even if he stays, someone who can play across the front three in the attack, although more out wide.

Liverpool already possess some fantastic forward players beyond Suarez, like Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling, who can all develop further yet. Furthermore, we have already added the exciting (and violent?) Iago Aspas and the young talent of Luis Alberto. However, the likes of Suso and Jordan Ibe should go out on loan – Suso already has, to gain first team experience as they are unlikely to seriously contribute to Liverpool’s first team finishing in the top four.

In addition, Oussuma Assaidi should be sold if the right price comes in (£4m+) as Rodgers obviously doesn’t feel that he can rely on him. Despite Assaidi’s skills, he does have a tendency to go missing in the big games. Meanwhile, even though it would constitute a colossal loss of £10m+, Liverpool should sell Stewart Downing. It’s a simple reason really – he isn’t good enough.

Notwithstanding his upturn in form recently, he still hasn’t delivered the goods, and at 29 in July, is unlikely to improve. Any offer above £7-8m should be taken and spent on a replacement. Nacer Chadli from FC Twente would be an exciting signing, fast and direct and with a lot of potential; almost an improved version of Assaidi. Whilst it can be recognised that Rodgers has already done a lot of work in the forward area, more needs to be done if we are to seriously think about making the top four.

These proposals represent a mere outline, a sketch of what Rodgers and his scouting team need to do in order to find the right players, like arranging pieces on a chessboard. Many of the players suggested here will not move to Liverpool for a myriad of reasons: fee, injury concerns, wages, other clubs, lack of European football. The list goes on. As a result, it will require a staggering amount of work to buy ten players who are right for Liverpool, instead of the usual four to six a season.

Nevertheless, it is needed as Liverpool require the quality and depth to rival other clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton – teams they are challenging for a top four spot. It could all backfire, as they need to become immersed to playing for Liverpool and for the style of Brendan Rodgers, which does take time and effort. This is the requirement, the sacrifice needed to be at the top – to realise that some of the players you have educated and invested a lot of time in simply can’t integrate as a Liverpool player.

Therefore, you must start over with new players, again spending precious time finding them, teaching them and then hoping they will cut it and help fuel a bid for the top four. This is what Benitez did so effectively in his early years at Liverpool, constantly getting rid of the deadwood who failed at Liverpool. Names like Josemi and Antonio Nunez spring to mind.

It’s not all just about Rodgers and his team though; the American owners need to cough it up once again, and provide roughly £20m of their own cash to go with player sales. That should be enough to push through the objectives suggested here, and hopefully propel their investment towards its first target – the top four. Then the league title!

No club has a divine right to be at the top – they have to earn it. For a multitude of factors over the years, Liverpool have slipped from their ‘perch’, although there have been some great distractions along the way (2001, 2005). However, much more work is needed if Liverpool are to make their way back to the top again on a consistent basis. Other requirements are needed though.

Bravery is one of them – Rodgers needs to go for it.

Dear Brendan,

If the right players are out there, go and get them. Don’t be stuck with what you have.

Good luck,

Ben Lockett.

Rodgers needs to ship out the other 8 dead wood average hard working players and re couperate: £20-£27M

    1: GK: B Jones 2: RB: Flanagan 3: CB: Coates 4: Spearing

5: AM: Pacheco 6: RW / RWF: Assaidi 7: LW / LWF: Borini 8: FD: Borini

Then Rodgers needs to find out if P Reina and L Suarez plan to be around and fully committed to the cause for next 2-4 years: If Not, then both should be shipped out as soon as possible

Reina should be sold in swap deal with C Tello(21) Of Barcelona and £2M Cash Or he should be sold for £10-£14M with Arsenal and Napoli fans of his also

L Suarez should be sold for no less than £55M, he is currently the 3rd best player in the world behind Messi and Ronaldo. Neymar went to Barcelona for £61m including add ons and Real Madrid offered £65M+ in their opening bid for Bale, Cavani has buy out clause of £54M and Suarez is better than Bale, Cavani and Neymar so the owners and B Rodgers should stand firm and should not listen to no offers under £55M.

If anyone wants him, that is the minimum club should accept for Suarez, Suarez is and was a better player than Torres and club got £50M out of Torres sale, so club expect to get more from better player.

Then if the 8 dead wood players are sold and the two world class players we have are sold: 10 players in total:

Along with C Tello(21) in swap deal with P Reina.

Then 9 other players need to be brought to club: Five Defensive players and 4 Attacking Players: To bring more class, quality, quality competition for places and DEPTH to SQUAD:

And then we could have squad capable of competing with one another on all fronts all over the course of season:

Five/5: Defensive players: That should be brought in to bring more stability, competition, mobilty, power and Strength to Squad: Cost =£30-£50M

1: GK: A Mccarthy(23) Of Reading for £4-£7M to compete with Mignolet(25) for the next 3-8 years at club

2:CB: K Papadopolous(21) Of Schalke for £10-£16M to compete with Skrtel(28) for next 2 years. And then to take over from Skrtel

3:CB: Toby Alderweireld(24) Of Ajax for £7-£10M to compete with Agger(28) and Toure(32) for next 2-4 years and then to take over the mantle with K Papadopolous

4: LB: A Cissoko(25) Of Valencia for £2-£6M to compete with Enrique(26) For next two to three seasons.

5: DM: E Capoue(23) Of Toulouse for £7-£11M to compete with LUCAS(26) for the next 3- 5 years.

    Four/4 Attacking players: Cost= £42-£78M

1: AM: I Munian(20) Of A Bilbao for £10-£15M to compete with Alberto(20) and Coutinho(20) for the next 5-10 seasons at club

2: LW/ LWF: Bernard(20) Of A Minero in Brazil Or D Capel(25) Of Sporting Clube De Portugal / Lisbon for £4-£16 to compete with Aspas and IBE for next 3- 4 seasons

3: FD: C Benteke(21) Of A Villa for £18-£23M to compete with Sturridge for the next 5-8 years at club

4: FD: L Muriel(23) Of Udinese for £10-£14M to compete with Benteke and Sturridge for the next 5-8 years at club.

Can you come and work for me? You’ve sold the same player twice… amazing effort to pull that one off.

And Dennis, why do you insist on poluting every single thread with your dreamland transfer idea which every one of us has seen 10 times.

1, they are the wrong players,
2, Your proposing 13 – 14 new players in the one window which has never worked for anyone.
      3, your a goose.

      • Denis D says:

        Ozred, Your comical for real.

Its not dream land its facts, if our club does not spend serious money and invest in the squad dramatically there is no way we are making top 4 we finished 7th.

        Not 5th not 6th 7th

The 6 clubs ahead of us have much better squads than us and over course of season it showed, consistency comes through class, quality, quality competition and depth within a squad.

We do not have enough class and quality in squad, we do not have enough quality competition for places. At club and this has been a problem for over 20 years, This is why we have not won the premiership.

Consistency is key to winning leagues , but too have consistency you need good squad with more class and quality players competing with one another than more average hard working players competing with one another.

In our 25 man squad last season only 10 players would have the class and quality to play for the 6 teams that finished above us

Agger Coutinho Enrique Gerrard Johnson LUCAS Reina Skrtel Sturridge Suarez, The other 15 players would not

        So drastic changes are needed

I said those 10 other players need to be brought to club between this and January Transfer window clown , After the 7 dead wood average players i mentioned are shipped out of club and if Suarez is sold this summer then 8 players will need to be brought in: 8 out and 8 in:

This summer these 8 players should be brought in

And they are not wrong players

The players i mentioned are all better than what we currently have in squad.
As if we had a good squad we would not be desperate to get back in top 4, we would be looking to win the league instead.

Just shows how far we have fallen off top, whereas we have been looking to get back in champions league in last five years, how many times have scummy Man United won the league in those five years?

Our squad needs wholesale surgery completed to it

This is not Fifa, it is not Fantasy football its facts.

Do you think PSG and Monaco are splashing out £50M on individual players for fun, no? Its because they want to compete with the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Man City and Man United in Champions League.

And we are better and bigger clubs than PSG and Monaco the only difference is they have the financial backing and are in Champions League

Our club are not getting back in champions league football only spending £20-£30 a season mark that on the wall , we are £130-£150 worth of class, depth and quality behind Man United, Man City and Chelsea who will be challenging for the league this year and have been for last 3-5 seasons.

And all of those teams are strengthening with world class players, so how does our club close the gap in class, quality, depth on these 3 clubs?

OZRED You know so much please tell me

  • Ayaz says:

    Wishfull!!

    • Denis D says:

Not wishful thinking that is what is needed this summer, or we will be a top 6-10 club for another season making it 6 seasons being way out of top 4.

Our club needs £130-£150M spent on the playing staff and squad to get back amongst the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

We have the 7th best squad in league and its reason we finished 7th.
Manchester United and Manchester City are quite a bit ahead of everyone else in squad class and depth

Chelsea follow the two manchester Clubs in squad depth and class

Arsenal Follow Chelsea in squad depth and class, followed by Tottenham and then Everton.

All those 6 clubs have alot better squads than us and have more class and quality in their squads. That is why they finished above us last season

But in order for that to change the owners need to give B Rodgers £30-£50M of their own capital and money, but the right class and quality players need to be brought to club for right money and the 10 players i mentioned would all improve the squad dramatically and add more class, depth and quality to Squad.

Not wishful thinking, this is what is needed if our club is to get back competing with Manchester United and Manchester City for the league in next 2 years.

FSG : Peanut money doesn’t win trophies, ask Arsene wenger he has gone 8 years without trophy. I am praying we never go down that route!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Great Article Ben,
    B. Rodgers needs to be brave and get in some of these transfers sooner than later.
    YES – MASSIVE OVERHAUL, I suggest…

    IN Defense:- Alderwiereld, Sakho, Bertrand.
    IN Def. Midfield:- Rakitic, McCarthy.
Att. Midfield:- Bernard, McManaman, Jorginho, Eriksen.
    Forward:- Yilmaz, Chadli.

Players out:- Skrtel, Coates, Spearing, Assaidi, Downing, SAUREZ….

Saurez wants to leave, I say sell him because if we keep him he will not be the same….just like Torres. Definitely, we can get 50Mil.+ for him….and recruit some of these new players above……

    Jus’ Saying !!!

Really? Is it a coincidence that rafa/Valero go and Reina performence dipped?

Also, too much change too soon will backfire. What we need is to replace luis with mf. Striker. Get those 2 right and we will have improved from last season. The squad at least. Eriksen , negredo if city doesn’t piss on our chips. If not a 15 goal season striker.
If Rogers carries on chopping/changing everything, we stare at the relegation places .

  • Hlebbz says:

Spot on but I’d prefer an evolution instead of a revolution, a major overhaul at this level is very very risky…BR needs to be brave, we’ve done some very good business and no disrespect to the lads that have just come in but we need some marque signings if we gunning for at least a top 4 finish.

    • Denis D says:

RISKY? we have not been in champions league for five years now and the competition for the 3rd and 4th position in league now is tough.

For last 5 years we have been top 6-10 team, yeah we played great football this year and scored more goals in league but we still finished 3 places off top 4 and did not go to any semi finals or cup finals last year either.

The club should not spend more than £20M on more than one player, as we are not in Champions league and we are not in Europe either.

A mass overhaul has been long over due, last season rodgers shipped out 9 players and loaned out 3 players:

Adams, Aurelio, Aquilani, Bellamy, Cole, Doni, Kuyt, Rodriguez and Wilson
      Carroll, Ngoo and Spearing

This summer he has shipped out Carroll, Shelvey and Ngoo.

He just needs to ship out the other dead wood average players still at club:
GK: Jones RB: Flanagan CB: Coates
      AM:Pacheco RW/ RWF: Assaidi LW/LWF: Downing
      FD: Borini

And then he needs to ship out any class or world class players who do not want to be at club and are not showing the manager, the club and the fans no loyalty promoting their love and effection for other big clubs. And any class or world class player who’s heart is not in it should be sold and replaced

SO A Massive OVERHAUL IS DEFINATELY NEEDED

  • Matu John says:

This is a good article. All we can now as a Liverpool fan is hope and see who BR brings to the club. It seems he says the transfer window is not over yet for the club

  • ozred says:

Agree with most of what’s said. Have strengthened the squad of the back of what I consider was a genuine top 4 challenging squad after the additions of Coutinho and Sturridg in Jan.

The sale of Suarez is a massive blow but providing the money is reinvested in world class talent, it may be a blessing in disguise.

With $40m for Suarez, $20m from Owners and $20m for further sales, We’ve got $80m to invest in 4 – 5 world class players all of which would walk straight into our best 11.

    Champions league here we come…

  • Steve says:

Denis, you are the most deluded person I’ve seen on here, of which there are many. If it were that easy then we’d all be football managers, you have to take into account these are people you trying to sign it’s not as simple as just saying buy him, and you can’t just put your own price on there heads, this is not fifa. You need to wake up mate.

    • Anthony says:

      Ditto that buddy.

Im sick of hearing about which players should go, and which to buy etc. This is neither fantasy football nor championship manager.

Sidenote, I think that BR is doing a fantastic job getting Liverpool to play attractive attacking football again. There were games last season that we were starting to look like world beaters, playing the kind of football that gets the Kop on its feet. Given the time for existing players to adapt to BR’s system (last season) and the new signings that could fit right in, I am looking forward for more consistency this season that will bring us closer to the top 4.

Get behind the manager and the team y’all. YNWA.

      • Denis D says:

Anthony: Do you seriously think the signings we have made will make us top 4? We finished 7th not even 5th and have been a top 6-10 team for last five seasons.

whereas we have signed good but relatively unknown players for peanuts

The 6 teams with much better squads than us are strengthening with players Like Fernandinho, Navas, Paulinho, Schurrle. class quality players well known in world football

You get consistency with more class, quality and quality competition for places that is why the Great Liverpool teams of old used to dominate english football in the 80’s and it is why Manchester United in the last 20 years have dominated English football is not by spending peanuts and bringing in morer average hard working players than more class quality players.

Whereas Man United have and had the power to drop Rooney for Wellbeck or Van Persie, No matter what madness Suarez did to Tar clubs name and image he played for sole fact he had no real class or quality competition for his place until Sturridge signed and as still no matter how great Suarez is, no matter what madness he brings to club unless FA suspend him. Rodgers can not drop him as there is no real class quality competition there.

        • Anthony says:

For the record, I would love to see Liverpool signing world class players. And I do agree with you that consistency comes with more class and competition. Even BR would have to agree on that, that the team has been thin.

I would like to remind that world class players may not mean that the club is moving in the right direction. Read Shevchenko, Veron etc. Personally, I would rather go out to get a player that can fit into the system and tactics, than to change the playing style to accommodate the player.

The fact is that Liverpool is in no position to compete financially with the big boys anymore, and we have to accept that the board is in favor of the strategy to build slow and steady. Yet with that strategy, I believe that there is progress in the right direction being made. We have blooded more youngsters. We have dominated games last season against top teams and I believe that we can build on that this season.

It will definitely take some time before we can get back to the top. But as long as I see progress being made, I am happy.

I do want to see Liverpool lift the EPL in my lifetime. YWNA.

        • guest says:

I think you are wasting your time m8, fans go by what the manager says happened rather than what actually did, with his laughable philosophy of passing football, which Liverpool were playing when Rodgers was still in his nappy. don’t understand why fans are so hell-bent on defending a man who failed at every thing last season, I don’t care what anybody says, If This guy couldn’t talk so well he would be gone by now, or the more gullible fans might have actually worked him out.

      • guest says:

“Attractive attacking football”, did not see much of that when we came up against a team who actually closed us down, we looked clueless, you need to stop going by what the manager says and rather go by what he has done…..which is deliver our worst season for decades. Talk about fantasy football, the crap Rodgers come out with is what you call fantasy football, all theory and no substance.

    • Denis D says:

Steve, its clowns like you who do not know anything about football.

I stated over three years ago Coutinho Of Inter Milan, Jesus Navas Of Seville and Diego Capel of Seville should be brought to Anfield and had clueless fans like you saying they are not good enough and they would not do well at club.

Now Coutinho has been brought to club 3 years on, he is showing the attributes, class , quality i saw in the small amount of games he played at Inter 3 years ago.

J Navas is now at Seville and was the fastest player in Spain for last five years and it is this simple a fully fit injury free J Navas is going to terrorise any full back in WORLD football

D Capel is currently at Sporting Lisbon/ Clube De Portugal and available and would be a great addition to club.

The thing is the last 4 years worth of transfer windows at Liverpool has been diabolical, we have sold class and quality players and replaced them with dead wood hard working average players.

That is why we have been a top 6-10 club in last 5 seasons and years.

Our club can no longer compete with the likes Of Barcelona,Bayern Munich,Borrussia Dortmund, Chelsea,Man City, Man United, Monaco, PSG O r Real Madrid for World class players as they have Champions league football to offer and higher wages to offer. So if we go for any world class players and any of these clubs become interested in that player, then we will not land the player.

Also due to the fact we have not been in Champions League for five years, we do not have the finances to spend £20 plus million on a player

Its not easy but it has to be done, Look at Di Canio how many players has he brought in already this summer? 9? If the squad you have is not up to scratch you need to change it.

Our squad has been abyzmal for the last five years, there is no real class quality competition for places. We have only 10 players in 25 man squad who would be able to get into the 6 teams that finished above us this season. Man United, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton.

Only these players have the class and quality in our current squad to play in those teams above us: Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard, Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge.

So a huge clear out of dead wood average players is needed and an influx of good players is needed.

You cannot win trophies in modern football without spending serious millions

This is not Fifa its Facts

You wouldn’t expect a Ford Fiesta to beat a Porsche in A Race would you and if you were to rate the top 7 teams squads in terms of Cars

This is how it looks now:

Man United And Man City Austin Martin Bentley
      Chelsea Mercedes
      Arsenal BMW
      Tottenham Audi
      Everton Lexus
      Liverpool Honda

The players i have mentioned are available and could be brought for the values i mentioned as most of their clubs are in need of cash and are struggling financially.

I am awake mate, i am just honest blunt fan.

The reason we are now a top 6-10 team now and have been for 5 years is:
Our squad lacks class, quality and quality competition for places all over squad:

The only position we have good class quality competition for places is at Right Full back: Johnson, Kelly and Wisdom

Where else in squad is there real class quality competition for places Steve?

  • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

Diame, sissoko nd we are good for a start.

  • Steve says:

You not blunt you deluded, we missed out on a lot of possible transfers and money was not well spent I agree but it takes no genius to see that, I’m sure you saw Coutinho 3 years ago good on you mate, you deserve a cookie. You talk about quality then you mention D Capel? He Can’t even make it in the Portuguese League that’s why his available. You not realistic no matter how hard you try to convince yourself. You live in Denise Land where you make 9 signings and that equals success, you’ve just proved yourself more deluded then before. You should stop that little brain of yours its starting to smoke.

    • Denis D says:

Steve for someone who claims they no football, your a deluded muppet.

Capel is better than any winger we have at the club

And we have needed a huge overhaul of the dead wood average players we have at club over last five seasons, we need huge surgery to the team.

I have mentioned Bernard, Capel Or Arfa one of these three should be brought to club this summer to play as a left winger or left wing forward.

Muppet Steve, Please tell me what winger we have at club Now who is better or creates and scores more goals at our club than any of those three left wingers.

If we were in the top 4 you clown, we would only need 3 or 4 players to stay ahead of competition and strengthen like that. But we are so so so far away from our rivals in squad class and depth that it hurts and thats a FACT.

we need the average mediocre players shown the door and more class quality players brought to club:

All the players i mentioned would strengthen the team:
A Mccarthy(23) Of Reading is three times better than Jones and when Reina departs he would rival Mignolet(25) for the No 1 position

K Papadopolous(21) is a class, quality, fast, mobile, powerful, strong no nonsense type centre back who could and would compete with Skrtel for the next three years then take over from him

T Alderwierld(24) is a good class centre back with good pace and speed and reads game well and would be good addition to club, he would learn from Agger and Toure then in next two to three years he would take over the mantle of being 1st choice.

A Cissokho(25) Of Valencia is a pacey quick solid tough left full back who is experienced defender and has good engine/stamina and would offer Enrique some real competition for his place.

E Capoue(23) Is a beast simple:He is class, quality, mobile, quick, Strong , Tough, Tough in the tackle and a very good passer of the ball. Capoue breaks up play and starts attacks also, he would offer LUCAS some real class quality competition for his place and in all honesty , he would make Lucas warm the bench.
As against the Mobile Physical Powerful Centre Midfielders Lucas struggles and Capoue would not.

All the attackers i mentioned club should bring in : First choice:
1: I Munian(20) Of A Bilbao is on par with Coutinho, Munian is the younger quicker version of Iniesta, Mark it on the wallhe is going to be a world class magician in the next three years when he joins a better team than A Bilbao.

2: Bernard(20) Of A Minero, D Capel(25) Of Sporting Lisbon/ Clube De Portugal or B Arfa(26) Of Newcastle, All these wingers mentioned are three times better than S Downing and Jordan IBE at the moment.

3: L Muriel(23) Of Udinese is a striker who has all the attributes to be a success in the premiership, he is just a little raw at the moment. He is Mobile, Powerful, Quick,Skillful, Strong and has good movement and is a good finisher.

4: C Tello(21) Of Barcelona is a player we have been linked with for last two seasons, he is blessed with pace and speed, is direct, has good engine, plays without fear and scores goals. And Tello is better than Sterling and Assaidi put together Steve, so say something and he is available

Our club needs massive surgery to it, all the best ex liverpool playerrs have been saying this for 3-4 years now( Barnes, Hansen, Lawrenson, Mccallister, Mcmanaman, Mcateer)

Rodgers shipped has shipped out 11 players since last year ( Adams,Aquilani, Aurelio, Bellamy, Carroll, Cole, Doni, Kuyt, Rodriguez, Shelvey and wilson.

He still has 8 more dead wood average footballers at the club to get rid of then he needs to replace them with class quality players and THAT IS FACT

Its not a dead cert just buying 10 players brings success, but 10 class, quality players who will bring more class, quality and depth to club is better than having 8 dead wood average players in squad and two world class players who do not want to be at club.

Capel is better than any winger we have at the club,so how can you criticise him when we have players like Assaidi, Borini, Downing and Flanagan at the club?

  • Steve says:

Wow are you seriously asking me who is better than 3 goals 1 assist in 21 appearances Capel? So you’ll pay millions for a player that contributes less than Downing, that’s what the club has been doing for years coz of clowns like you. Everybody with eyes have mentioned Bernard that’s why we want him captain obvious, Ben Arfa as good as he is spends more time injured he missed 19 games last season due to a hamstring injury he is a risk but you happy to sign both coz its not you millions clown. Its no point running off a list of players we should get its not as easy as just saying Tello, Papadopolous, Capoue they are good players but the three of them would cost more then we can spend and we will have other cubs bidding for them which means half will not join liverpool because we’ve been out bid the other half of the good players you mentioned want to stay or want champions league. You honestly think you have some new revelation in the way you think of players and which players to buy, the whole of the football world have an eye on almost every player you mentioned and I doubt you have any capacity to rate a player, so why not just leave it to our scouts and our manager and you stick to your fantasy world. By the way if you to thick to realize that I agree we need an overhaul but disagree with the manner and ease you in which you claim it can be done so please stop giving your useless opinion on every player nobody cares.

    • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

Steve 4give me for saying this but this is the first time you ve written something i can call sensible. and you right (may be to an extent if not totally right)

    • Denis D says:

Steve, your a clown Capel is much better than Downing. And Arfa is also. Capel is a much better upgrade than Downing and so is Arfa.

Steve, you are clueless the reason we need huge overhaul is because we are so far away from our rivals in squad class and depth and they are all strengthening this year.

So unless some wholesale surgery is completed, then we will stay behind our rivals.
The manager has shipped out 12 players and brought in 9. Thats 3 players down, also there are the 8 dead wood players still at club to get rid of. And the Reina and Suarez situations to sort out.

And for you to chat rubbish on here, our scouting network brought borini, Assaidi to club. And they are both pony

And the sooner we sign class quality players not un proven players for peanuts, the sooner we can start seriously challenging Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham for the 3rd and 4th position in the league.

  • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

denis, denis, denis, if you intend to be a scout, goodluck to you but you need to stop the copy nd paste. on few nd seperate occassions(today included), i ve taken my time to write about ur “pastes” but extenuating circumstances always interfers with my posting it. i dont know why, but i think you wld ve gotten something from it or them, the impact it wld ve made i might never know.

    • Denis D says:

I hear you, its just dumb man on here who don’t know anything. Do you think its coincidence Arsenal have not won a trophy in 8 years? Do you think its coincidence we have never won the Premier League?

At end of day to win trophies consistantly you need class, quality players all over squad and having good class quality players all over squad costs money.

If our club ever have these 6 players out of team at same time we would be box standard: Agger, Coutinho, Gerrard, Lucas, Sturridge and Suarez.

And thats not good enough for our club , we need class, quality competiton and cover for every position at club.

And its damn frustrating hearing doughnuts on here like steve chat crap, we have not been in Champions league for last five years and have become a top 6-10 club in league because at the moment there are 6 teams with better squads than us and over course of season they proved it simple

  • Steve says:

Denis once again you have shown your lack of intelligence on the subject, so allow me to dumb it down for you.

    1) I Agree the team\squad needs to ship out some players and replace them with quality signings, I have actually mentioned this to you twice.

    2) I wouldn’t call anybody dead wood as that’s simply disrespectful to any player, I don’t rate Downing though not for Liverpool, but you have no clue about scouting or football if you think Capel is any better, how many games have you seen him play, your alternative to Capel is Ben Arfa he is a risk and a costly one at that.

    3) The bulk of your other suggestions are very talented player’s, I agree, you deserve another cookie for you-tubing them with such passion.

    4) I disagreed with your valuation of most players and the ease in which you think these players can be obtained, you like a child playing Fifa taking no notice of the real world and how this would affect our club financially, agent fees, transaction fees, wages, vat, tax, sign on fees, all this spending in one season, not forget other expenses, with no guarantee of Champions League Football next season. You would run our club into the ground like the previous owners. Fact!
