LFC defenderACCORDING to the Daily Mail, Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has insisted that he has no desire to leave Anfield amid interest from La Liga champions Barcelona.

The Spanish giants, under new coach Gerardo Martino, are looking to bolster up their defensive numbers and Agger, along with Chelsea’s David Luiz, is a priority target for the club.

However, despite the interest, the Reds’ vice-captain is insistent that he has no desire to leave Anfield and wants to continue playing for Liverpool.

Speaking to Sport, Agger, who arrived to Liverpool in 2006 under Rafa Benitez, said:

“Barcelona are obviously a big club, but I have never thought about leaving Liverpool, unless they want to sell, everyone at the club are an integral part of my life.

“I have a YNWA tattoo. Frankly I don’t mind if we don’t finish in the top four, I love the club.”

Agger’s impressive performances over the last 7 years for Liverpool have resulted in his being linked with big names such as Barcelona for a number of years.

Since he arrived to Anfield in 2006 the Dane had been a constant contender for a place in the team and finally established himself as a regular when he replaced Sami Hyypia alongside Jamie Carragher.

Agger’s play has also improved due to new manager Brendan Rodgers’ preference to maintain possession on the ball, something Agger, a ball-playing defender, can pride himself on doing very well.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

    • your mum says:

You get worried when your mum says that too! Believe in LFC and it is nice to see that Agger has that leadership and passion

  • Leon says:

LFC Great Dane YNWA vice captain u deserve it for ur loyality and love for the club

  • allaboutanfield says:

Yes I am a bit worried too . Just look at Reina’s case.

    • your mum says:

Reina was crap and he had no loyalty when Rafa was fired he started not to care glad to see that guy gone

    • gazlfc says:

Reina quite frankly talked about loving the club but words mean nothing without showing it. which Agger-do.

  • Marc says:

Agger won’t leave to Barca. With pepe it’s different, he’s older and wants to go home, I don’t blame him, Liverpool is cold and rainy, Barcelona is warm and beautiful. Agger will also want to go home in 4 -5 years. But now BR, cleverly, made him vice captain, and he is happy. I’m not worried.

Happy BR stuck to his guns with Willian- Hendrik etc he never pays more than a player is worth.

I’m confident that he will make an attacking signing before the close, and a marquee signing means a good player, not an expensive player that we will know. Personally I never knew who coutinio, before he signed.

I’m so happy to see sturridge- coutinio-aspas connecting against stoke. Remember in the last 3-4 years the stoke games have been rubbish football, that we loose or draw, with few goals.

Believe in BR and Liverpool, don’t be negative, this coach has a plan, I just hope we don’t change owners, and have to start all over again.

    YNWA

    • allaboutanfield says:

I really hope that his plan will brings us to glory soon.

    • gazlfc says:

Totally agree. I think BR is trying to instill that sense of pride and passion into the team. getting them to understand what it means to play for us, and the players he brings in must be of the same mind-set and determination to win. Just because we dont get who sky link us with doesnt mean we wont bring in the quality. torres 22m Suarez 22m quality players brought in after missing out on initial targets according to rumours (prob)

  • Raam says:

Your mum..Are you a LFC fan? if you hate your mum so much thats your problem dude.! But try to keep it to yourself. Dont involve others family in your ediotic comments.

  • ndalama says:

Liverpool and BR are on the right path to glory days.

  • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

  • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

    Is Allen better than Coutinho?
    Is Allen younger than Coutinho?
    Does Allen mk the team?
Who look more like a footballer?

  • Palo from Nigeria says:

BR is trying, he is nt signing big names but quality. am api dat he gotten rid of unwanted players lik jojo, Downing n brought more qualities lik Cotinho, Aspas. I luv him

  • FSG Out says:

Agger just needs a manager who can coach him, he turned away from the ball and conceded the penalty against Stoke. Well done Brenda! There will be plenty more howlers coming up this season.

  • Raam says:

Agger concedes a penalty and BR is blamed!.?? Be realistic bro, dont be so negative.

    • FSG Out says:

Br is the coach you idiot, how many howlers did we make last season? Plenty. How many defensive mistakes do Mourinho teams make? Think about it ya plank.
