Liverpool targetNUMEROUS reports including from the Liverpool Echo are suggesting that Liverpool have activated a £21.8m release clause for Atletico Madrid’s Brazilian forward Diego Costa.

Costa scored 20 times for Atleti last season and formed a fruitful partnership with Radamel Falcao who has since departed the Spanish capital for Monaco.

A tall, powerful striker known for his intense work rate, strength and no little guile, Costa has recently earned 2 caps for the Brazilian national side on the back of his best season to date.

The striker, who can also play in wide areas, is a player who does have a certain reputation in Spain however.

Known as a wind up merchant of the highest order, Costa is not averse to accumulating cards and stirring trouble with opponents.

Despite that it appears that Brendan Rodgers has earmarked the Atleti man as his main attacking summer recruit since missing out on Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Liverpool insist off the record that any potential deal for Costa will have no bearing on the future of Luis Suarez who they are still determined to keep at the club.

Right on this is how to do business

I feel like this one is true. I mean all the transfers or close transfers have come almost out of nowhere, like this one. Assaidi, Coutinho, Aspas, Toure, Mkhitarian, even Melgarejo. The rumors about Cissokho, Eriksen, Depmsey (last summer) and Alderweireld have all been ongoing and not much has come of them. I wouldn’t be against this transfer either. He is a solid striker…strong on the ball, yet very mobile. He isn’t the fastest, but he can shrug off more than a couple tackles, and has a penchant for getting assists (at least more than I would expect from a forward).

Les watch and see what will come out of this one….

  • Leeglenn says:

It will be amazing signing but I hope Suarez stays at Liverpool and get Liverpool into the top four

  • keezykool says:

Think it will be a good buy if we can get him!

Let’s not be too happy yet. This might be another rumour.

  • allaboutanfield says:

Lets not get our hopes to high . here on earth is BR going to get 21.8 million for this chap ? He may have to sell some more players to raise the money.

  • gb says:

I hope this will persuade suarez to stay because it shows the clubs ambition to get back into the top four

    This story is true

BUT this guy is to replace Suarez. So not a good move.

  • L4 says:

    Aspas Costa

    Sturridge

These are the front 3. In actual fact, it’ll b better of w/o Suarez. Arsenal…..£50+m! He’s all urs.

  • red says:

Please don’t trust BR/FSG. Just like Reina case, this Costa IS 100% Suarez replacement.

  • patrick idrifua says:

  • Edet Antai says:

All my Kop fans ask ursef hw many players hav been linked wit us?evn d one dat seems 2 b done deal yet all disapeared I’m highly dispointed wit d way transfer is handling in liverpool imagin missin out 4 complete 4 seasons in champions league football n yet we can sign top quality players I doubt if can push 4 top 4 dis cumin season considerin man city,Chelsea,Man u, spurs they all hav gud quality teams ours is speculation evry time let Suarez go if he likes we ar not serious @ al meanwhile I stil remain NEVER WALK ALONE

  • Dolph says:

Suarez has disrespected us 4 too long now he needs 2 go…!!

  • ebri says:

Honestly, it will be better for us (lfc) if we let Suarez go. He’s been too much trouble from just one player since his arrival to anfield. Sell him, buy Jackson Martinez.

  • thomas says:

Yeah , come on wake up people. Fsg are getting Suarez replacement in before he goes

  • g says:

    hes a right winger i think ?

  • allaboutanfield says:

Frankly speaking don’t know if Liverpool is willing to splash that kind of cash on one player .

  • Denis D says:

I think that club should sell Suarez this summer, but only for £55M and upwards if that is not met he should be kept at the club.

If Suarez is not sold: B Rodgers needs the owners to give him £50-£80M to spend and then he needs to bring in these 4 attackers. And not D Costa for £22M

These 4 / Four class quality attacking players: Creativity, Goals, Mobility, Pace and Speed

1: AM: I Munian(20) Of A Bilbao for £10-£15M to compete with Alberto and Coutinho

2: RW / RWF: J Montero(23) Of Monarcas Morelia in Mexico for £4-£7M to compete with Sterling

3: LW / LWF: B Arfa(26) Of Newcastle for £12-£15M to compete with Aspas and IBE

4: FD: L Muriel(23) Of Udinese for £10-£14M to compete with Sturridge and Suarez

And If L Suarez is sold for £55M , then these two attackers should also be brought to club for combined total of £44M

5: M Reus(24) Of B Dortmund for £17-£24M to compete with Montero and Sterling

6: L Adriano(26) Of Shakhtar Donesk for £16-£20M to compete with Muriel and Stturridge

Those two attackers would be able to replace Suarez
