LFCThe Independent had an interview with Jordan Henderson today, where the Liverpool FC midfielder talks about his battle to cement a first team place.

Last summer it looked for all the world that Jordan Henderson would be leaving Liverpool as another big money English flop, to go along with Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing.

However, Henderson turned down a move and as the season progressed he found himself starting more games.

Fast forward to the start of the 2013-14 season and Henderson was selected to start against Stoke City.

“It is always nice to play, I am sure that is the same for everyone,” said the 23-year-old.

“But we are a squad and there will be times when other people come in and I have to keep fighting for my place and hopefully stay in the team.

“The most important thing in your first game of the season at home is to win the game and that is what we got.”

Liverpool did indeed get what they deserved from the game and if it was not for the brilliance of Asmir Begovic in the Stoke City goal, Henderson could have had two goals himself.

The midfielder admits they have to be more ruthless in front of goal if they are to stand a chance of breaking back into the top four, especially with last season’s 30-goal striker Luis Suarez suspended until the end of September.

It’s quite a turnaround for the man from Sunderland and hopefully for all Reds fans the performances and wins keep on coming.

done with cissokho now LFC should sign another centre back, if LFC fail to sign Willian the other option is looking for more younger striker such as Luis Muriel also wide winger Diego Copel, with 30m LFC can sign one defender(centre back), luis muriel and diego copel…goodluck LFC…

Great to read four positive comments. Hendo is the new dirk k. Positive, attacking, unending energy on attack and fantastic pressing on defense. He is becoming worth what KK paid for him. BR is helping him with his skills. All good.

So happy that we have cleared out all the overpaid players, freeing up our wage bill in the process. Don’t get me wrong, was loving downing, but not at 80k a week. 40k maybe.

    YNWA BR and Team !

Lets bag another 3 points away from home at Villa park. Kolo-Dan just keep that Benteke in check ( don’t forget about their new guy either). Going forward, I don’t need to give advise, we are the most exciting team in the EPL.
