Reds losing Eriksen ground as Spurs prepare Ajax double-swoop

Liverpool targetTHE Sunday Mirror has reported that Tottenham Hotspur are planning to yet again steal more of Liverpool FC’s transfer targets.

Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld are the subject of a £15million double bid.

Both players have been linked with Liverpool constantly over the summer months and it appeared that they were holding out for move to Merseyside.

However, that now appears to be untrue with Spurs taking advantage of the Reds having to spend time dealing with the want-away Luis Suarez.

Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen, 21 has rejected a host of clubs so far this summer, clubs from Italy, Germany and Russia in the hope of completing a move to his preferred club, believed to be Liverpool.

Eriksen was recently quoted as saying:

“I am prepared to wait. I will only go where my heart wants to go. I am patiently waiting what will happen in the next few weeks. But I have said before I only want to go to a club where I feel I can play at my best and which suits my style.’’

Belgian right-sided defender Toby Alderweireld, 24 has also turned down moves to Germany, Norwich City and rejected a new contract, again perhaps signalling that he was waiting for Liverpool to make their move.

None has been forthcoming as of yet and the Reds run the risk of losing both to one of their closest rivals, yet again.

Liverpool are the greatest club in English football history. But… Tottenham are a much better proposition for any player right now. I support neither club but if I was a player, I would relish the chance to play under a far superior manager in Villas-Boas and with far better players throughout the team.

If I were to make a strongest 11 of Spurs and Liverpool it would look like this.

    Lloris
    Johnson, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto,
    Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele
    Bale, Soldado, Suarez.

Note that there are only TWO Liverpool players in the side and that is mainly due to Walker’s age and inexperience or it would be all Spurs + Suarez.

Do your saying sandro, paulinho and demele are better midfielders than Steven Gerrard, One of the greatest epl players ever. Bull*!

      • Daz says:

No. Gerrard in his prime obviously. 34 year old ageing Stevie G vs Brazil’s 24 year old leading midfield star? No contest. If Gerrard and Paulinho went up for sale tomorrow, who would fetch a higher fee? If you say Gerrard, you really are a moron.

  • LFC says:

It will be that way if we actually tabled a bid!

    • Trev says:

er, Chelsea, Leeds, Blackburn, Utd, City, Arsenal have one the EPL since Liverpool last did………..SO WHO CARES! Spurs are now a far better side than Liverpool, deal with it!!!

    • Daz says:

History is history. Players aren’t going to win things on history. If a player had a chance to join Liverpool or Man City, they would choose City, regardless of Liverpool’s illustrious history. City are a more viable option now. Always competing for honours, always in the Champions League, pay top wages… Liverpool need to spend around £120m THIS season and get back into the CL or they will never return to it.

There are currently 5 teams in England that are far better than Liverpool – United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs. City have spent £90 odd million and strengthened, United will strengthen, Chelsea have bought 3 or 4 quality youngsters, Spurs have spent over £50m on some quality players and WILL keep Bale (my pick for the title this year) and Liverpool have signed no one of note.

This is a transitional season for many clubs with their new managers and players. Its “now or never” time for Liverpool. Dismiss my comments if you wish, most of you will whilst you cling to your “you’ll never walk alone” LP’s and black and white polaroids of former glories, with comments like the one above about Stevie G being a more attractive signing than any one of the Spurs midfield trio of Sandro, Dembele or Paulinho. It shows that your fans are so desperate to relive former glories that you have all deluded yourselves into genuinely believing an imaginary hype surrounding your club.

Your ONLY class player wants out, you are in financial peril and will struggle to get Europa League football again this year UNLESS you go out and spend way over £100m bringing players in on promises of titles at Anfield once again.

I wish you boys all the best for the coming season. Liverpool are one of the all time greats in European football and I’d love to see them restored to that former glory again. Just can’t see it happening again in my lifetime.

  • sadliverpoolfan says:

I’m a very sad liverpool fan,the way this are looking my beloved club will never win the league ever again or make top 4, unless we sell to rich owners an rodgers is out, ericksen is a good player an toby (is looking for defenders an attacking mid we have two young players that wants to play for liverpool he don’t sign quickly, our transfer negotiations has been pathetic

  • Trev says:

Pinching Liverpool targets? er, i believe Spurs have actually been linked with Eriksen for 2 years!

Liverpool are club that will go the same way as Leeds & Forest! – FACT

LFC – poorly run club with a championship manager!

  • JayJay says:

They get on my nerves!!!! how do they need them

They have Holtby, Chadli, Sigurdsson, Dembele and Paulinho that play in Eriksons position

They have Vertonghen, Dawson and Kaboul in Alderweilds…

How many bloody midfielders do they want its ridiculous, they are the most frustrating side, I heard they are getting Capoue as well and he is someone who I felt we should have got……they are a rugby side more than anything else, Sandro, Kaboul, Dawson, Paulinho, Dembele, Bale, Vertonghen, Walker, Soldado….all athletes with no brain

  • ikhose says:

We ll only have ourselves to blame if we eventually loose out on Eriksson! M sick nd tired of rodgers policy in the transfer window! Get Eriksson I beg you!!!!

  • mentor says:

I think spurs use to wait for liverpool scout to scout some players b4 they star there own negotiation,it won’t be good to ??????.?????? spurs sign ? duo.

  • stevie says:

we don’t need eriksen and coutinho. as for that toby bloke…….if he was any good, man u and citeh would be sniffing around. calm down all of you

    • stevie says:

and another thing……….why the hell are we wasting 5m on guillerme sequiera or however you spell it. he isn’t much good by all accounts. i realise jack robinson is better off on loan at blackpool than sitting on the bench but do we really need this bloke? WASTE OF MONEY!!

  • allaboutanfield says:

Seriously I am seeing BR downgrading our team.i don’t expect any big signing coming in. Most of our targets had already gone elsewhere.

  • Raam says:

Maybe Spurs are planning ahead what they are going to do with the money they are going to get from Bale’s sale. I wont be suprised if they even come for Suarez. They are confident that they have overtaken LFC on the race for global recognition and now they are determined to overtake Arsenal. The problem is, What taking Madrid this long to wrap up this deal? Madrid might be thinking what if this fella is a one season wonder! Moreover this guy is so fast that can tumble if a child sneezes nearby.
