Much promise, but much work needed

Dublin DeciderSO Liverpool fell to their first defeat of pre-season against Celtic in Dublin on Saturday evening in what was dubiously titled the ‘Dublin Decider’. Which would perhaps suggest that the Scottish champions now get to keep the Irish capital.

How the Reds managed to lose this one is beyond me, and I’m sure many of you reading this. Celtic’s ‘go to’ tactic for any side bigger than Aberdeen or Dunfermline appears to be ’10 behind the ball and fluke a goal’ and, sadly, it worked for them.

Liverpool were dominant for large portions of the game however and shouldn’t feel too disheartened by the result. The performance was impressive and when you consider that, while the quality of the Scottish Premier League is pretty turgid in comparison with the English Premier League, this is still the same Celtic side that took points off Barcelona in the Champions League last season.

Sure this wasn’t exactly their strongest side but the Scottish season is already under-way and Liverpool are still looking for form and fitness ahead of the new season starting. With youngsters such as Ibe, Sterling and Wisdom all included and in the absence of some key players, Liverpool weren’t exactly at full-strength themselves.

The defeat will hopefully help the team to regain their focus after a successful and fairly straightforward pre-season so far and while 7 out of 7 would’ve been nice, it could also have been fairly dangerous for the team to go into the first real game since last season ended against what will undoubtedly be a tough, well-drilled Stoke on the opening day of the season.

From today’s game it is clear that, against sides with packed defences and a bit more about them than your Valarengas and Melbourne Victorys Liverpool still need that extra bit of quality to open up well organised teams.

Thankfully, there is still plenty of the transfer window left to allow that to happen and the early weeks of the season, while the window is still open, should allow the manager to shore up any gaps in his squad.

Also, try not to forget that our two main goal-threats are Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez. One made his first tentative pre-season appearance since injury in the second-half against Celtic and the other is going to be out until the beginning of October. Both will be like brand new signings.

With 6 wins from 7 and 17 goals scored it’s been a successful pre-season for our young, talented squad. There is much promise in this side and should Suarez stay (and regain his positive attitude) and Sturridge regain his form of the second half of last season then the new Premier League season holds a great deal of promise for this club.

Typical word play by tommy the *, can’t admit your wrong so you stup to anything to try and make me look like a liar. Two can play that game. You said I wrote a post that said, “Suarez wasn’t that good a player”. Now where in your post does it say that? Do you know the difference between good and great? In footballing terms it is massive.

Here is the start of that post that you talk about.

“A) You have a striker in your team with approximately an average 12% conversion rate, that fluctuates between 0-50%. He is very talented individually and all the play goes through him. In around 200 shots he gets you 25 goals.”

Now what does that second sentence say?

There is also a special piece in there for you and your buddy’s

“So its up to you guys. option A or B? CL or no CL? we will genuinely be stronger without Suarez. He is a luxury player who simply appeases the fans with the occasional screamer. In games that don’t go his way he is a liabilty, giving away dangerous set pieces and picking up cautions or major bans (racism, middle finger, biting etc). I genuinely don’t care if he goes to Arsenal or Chelsea, because he will make them weaker. He’ll score a lot so it looks like its not his fault to the vegetables, but to people who actually understand and play/have played football, we will see why all of a sudden Mata, Hazard and Oscar are only scoring 5 goals a season. If we can mug them for £60m, go for it. Suarez in todays market would be ‘worth’ £40m easily, as he is a fan favourite (only of the team he plays for), who sells shirts. I’d sell for that to any team in the world. If he was then replaced by say Eriksen, Honda, or Dzduszak who would each add 10 gaols and assits a season, I’d be chuffed to bits. I say those three, as I would like someone who could repalce Suarez free kicks, as that is the one thing I could see us missing.”

It’s obvious that none of you ever played football at a decent standard. Where tactics and team setup come into play. You are veg!

Will prob get the usual reply of your so stupid and other childish insults. But noting ever to show that anyone else on here has a clue what they are talking about.

Oh and your argument is lost as soon as you mate (retardist) sides with you, the same nonce that thinks heskey retired after he left villa. So the words tactically inept should be kept to describe you and your not rodgers.

“we will genuinely bestronger without Suarez”

“he is a luxury player who simplyappeasesthe fanswith theoccasional screamer” lol lol

“Suarez is not really that great ” lol

“Suarez takes away from the team more than he gives back”

“Suarez is not good enough and not world class”

      Those are direct quotes

You really are a complete loser . YOUR ORIGINAL POST WAS PROBABLY THE DUMBEST MOST IDIOTIC POST EVER. The mind of a simpleton
