Suarez: the final straw?

LFCI’LL be honest with you now: I’m getting sick of writing about him about as much as you’re probably getting sick of reading about him. Like it or not, Luis Suarez is news and more than likely always will be.

And he was at it again on Tuesday when it became clear that an injury he supposedly first picked up during Steven Gerrard’s testimonial was later confirmed when he was not able to continue with the Reds ‘open’ training session on Monday.

Reported as only being a ‘precaution’, Suarez has not joined up with the rest of the squad on the clubs’ tour of Norway and it is now only a matter of time before the press begin reporting on his injury as proof that he will not be a Liverpool player come the start of the season.

It’s a fair assessment, in many ways, as it would certainly give the player the excuse to not show his face during the tour of one of Liverpool’s prime fan-bases.

Not only that, but there is seemingly no mention of Suarez’s injury on the clubs’ official website (correct me if I’m wrong?), which is strange, considering you would’ve thought that our best, most valued player being injured, or even left at home as a precautionary measure, would be considered major news.

The majority of us would probably just roll our eyes and try to accept that his injury is just that, an injury, as opposed to the ‘diplomatic pneumonia’ that we’ve become used to in these situations but cynicism is what football is all about these days.

You have to admit, though, it is a little conveniently timed and given that Suarez has looked anything but happy – or at all comfortable – during his brief appearances since his return to pre-season training it would certainly put us all out of our misery, whilst also allowing the rest of the players to get on with building fitness and gaining confidence prior to the season starting in a couple of weeks.

I would normally not be best pleased with the club, if they had given in to the player’s demands in allowing him to speak to another club, but in this instance I can fully appreciate the difficult position the manager and owners have been put in. They don’t want to lose our prize asset but should they have no other choice, they’re making it clear that it’ll only be at the behest of Liverpool Football Club.

I’ve already gone through the mourning period and I’ve accepted that Luis Suarez will most likely be at another club before the season starts. My only hope is that it’s Madrid, that they’ve paid what we’re asking and that we’ve had enough time to spend it on player we need.

And hey, maybe if it all goes to plan we can also ask them to throw Xabi Alonso in for good measure?

I’d drop him off the City tower and claim off the insurance.

  • Marshall says:

Suarez should just man up and hand in a transfer request while lfc should sell him for 55mill to arsenal by sunday.if they dont cash up by then just dump him in the u18.

  • Xabi says:

Xabi alonso plus 40 mill and you’ve got a deal. Get him out of our sites asap. I cannot believe he made the kop look like total * against olympiakos. History and tradition is thrown out of the window these days. CL is everything sadly

Your articles get worse with every one you write. Finally, you were going well with one and decided to return to your normal routine and have people puking reading the last line. Only losers look to the past for something positive. Why don’t you call for Torres ad Rafa as well! Wake up, forget about the past, and show conviction/belief in moving forward for christ sake.

First sentence is a winner: “…I’m getting sick of writing about him about as much as..”
    I love it!

I know it’s a sin, but if he wants CL, sell him to united just so he can get spanked by Evra and Rio.

  • Marshall says:

Hope man city or chelsea make bid….but only if he hands in a transfer request

The moment arsenal arrived at the very precise 7 digit figure, WAS the final straw. Now, no it isn’t. Time for strong arm negociatons.
Sit down with him and give him a list of the British newspapers/ radio stations and a comprehensive guide of the media outlets in the uk, plus a t-shirt with free me on the house….
THEN TELL HIM, YOUR PRICE IS 55-60 MILLION AND THE CLUB WILL NOT BE BULLIED BY ANYONE! Market price or no deal. We took the gamble( remember alfonso alves and Middlesborough ), could have gone both ways. We deserve the market price. Cavani, hulk, neimar, bale…all have/had a price.
Our h1ckhead has the price to. Untill is meet, he can shout as much as he likes !!!!
    I am angry now.

What is mr Suarez saying? Is he leaving for CL football, release clause met, media or a broken promise? I am sure the next will be because he scored 30 goals. He cant erase his shame just by switching clubs as he has shown. Throw him out for the right price; not on the cheap though.

  • Alabi Ayodeji says:

We all luvd him but he’s too proud. Lfc should sell him and use d money 2 buy a good striker

  • Marshall says:

His very devisive let him shine the bench for the whole season if we dont get 55mill and no late bids that will only weaken us further.

  • allaboutanfield says:

I am surprise hat so far only Arsenal have shown any real intent on Suarez. Isn’t there any other European clubs interested in him ?

  • Abebe Kifle says:
