LFCLIVERPOOL’S managing director Ian Ayre, according to The Mirror, has confirmed that the club will be taking steps to enter new negotiations with striker Luis Suarez at the end of the season, following his return from suspension.

Suarez featured for Liverpool for the first time since April, when he was given a 10 match ban for biting Chelsea defender, Branislav Ivanovic.

Despite a night of tireless effort, Suarez couldn’t find the net on his return as Liverpool slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United – a defeat that saw the Reds knocked out of the Capital One Cup in the third round.

Suarez has garnered quite a reputation for himself during his tenure at Liverpool; having already accumulated a total of 18 match bans courtesy of the aforementioned Ivanovic incident and an 8 match man in 2011 for racially abusing United player, Patrice Evra.

However, Ayre is keen to certify the 26 year old’s future at the club before his current deal, which expires in 2016, runs down.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Ayre said: “We sort of begin those type of discussions two years in from the end, so it’ll be the end of this season, We’ll do the same with everyone and at the right time we’ll have the discussion with Luis and his advisors.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

Why the hell are the club proposing talks for a new contract with this man? Disloyal and brought shame on the club more than once. And if anyone hadn’t noticed, we lost again with him in the team on wednesday. We lose quite a lot with him in the team

Probably Liverpool wanted to tie up some loose ends in the contract and also perhaps to increase the release clause value to 50 million pound?

  • FSG Out says:

We’ve only got 2 competitions left now, Suarez will not sign a new contract next summer, he will look for a way out and frankly who can blame the lad.

  • stevie says:

It’s the fact we want him to offer him an improved contract that I find staggering. Only in football can you make it clear that you want to leave the way he has and then find out the club you couldn’t wait to leave want to give you a better deal!

That is right move by FSG. Keep your prized asset. That is also a hint that BR could be sacked during January or at the end of session.
