LFc captainThe Metro reports that Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has entered himself into the fray of who may replace Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool manager whenever he steps down at the club.

The Liverpool captain has admitted he sees his future in a management capacity, and says that managing the club he has played for his entire life would be a dream come true for him.

Although the 33 year old has not thought about retiring just yet, he is already eyeing up the job he would like after he hangs up his boots.

Talking about his ambitions for after his playing days, Gerrard said:

“The dream come true would be to manage Liverpool, when the Liverpool job becomes available. There are world-class managers there ready already, but we’ll have to wait and see, it would be the icing on the cake.

“When you get to a certain age…my age, you need to start thinking seriously about a life after football.”

Gerrard is hopeful of taking his coaching badges before next season gets under-way, but has conceded that there is still a possibility he may change his mind on his future prospects.

“‘I definitely see myself as a manager rather than a coach, but that could change. I remember speaking to Jamie Carragher and he really fancied it but he’s decided media is what he wants to do.”

“It’ll be strange seeing him on Sky but I’m really delighted he’s doing it…he can leave managing Liverpool to me!’”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

The assistant manager’s job is still vacant at Anfield, Gerrard could start from there and build up by learning his trade and earn valuable experience of management while not directly feeling the pressure of the job

Gerrard have trained under many managers. He can surely be a fantastic manager.. And i would realy welcome if Liverpool bring back the famous Boot Room tradition..thats how we dominated England and Europe..the continuity from Shankly to Paisley to Fagan to Dalglish..than came Souness and Roy Evans..It will be another round of domination..But whos after BR?
