LFC midfieldREDS midfielder, Jordan Henderson, has claimed that along with new star striker Daniel Sturridge’s flying start to the season, the defensive solidity of the club is the other factor in Liverpool’s 100% start to their Premiership campaign, according to ESPN FC.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have made their best start to a Premiership since 1994, winning their first 3 games 1-0 without conceding a single goal, despite an injury to summer signing Kolo Toure.

Toure impressed with two solid performances in Liverpool’s first two games, against Stoke City and Aston Villa, but had to miss the Manchester United clash as a result of a groin injury, which marked the return of Martin Skrtel to play alongside Daniel Agger in central defence.

Henderson, talking to the Liverpool Daily Post, said:

“Defensively, we have looked very solid. Sometimes you have to dig results out and we have done that.

“Up front, Daniel Sturridge has been brilliant for us. He has been outstanding ever since he joined the club. He is scoring goals and we hope he can carry on doing that for us. But the clean sheets have also been really pleasing. We were solid at the back in our opening two matches and it was the same again against United.”

Liverpool’s defence was weak in the first half of last season, as the Reds conceded a disappointing 26 goals in a mere 19 appearances. However, after the victory against United, the Reds have now kept 8 cleans sheets in their last 10 Premiership games, a run that goes all the way back to April.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.
