Glen Johnson injuryThe Express have reported that Liverpool FC fullback Glen Johnson could be out for sometime due to the ankle injury he picked up during the Reds 1-0 victory over rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

Johnson was forced off during Sunday’s game after a challenge with United’s Patrice Evra. The full extent of the injury and the period out is still unknown a this time.

The club put out the following statement after Johnson was withdrawn from the England National squad for the upcoming double header against Moldova and Ukraine.

“After being examined by the club’s medical staff at Melwood, Johnson is required to rest his ankle this week.

“A further review will then take place to check stability and decide on further management

“Therefore, Liverpool have not put a timeframe on Johnson’s return to fitness at this stage.”

If Johnson is unable to return in time for the Swansea game, manager Brendan Rodgers will have a choice between Andre Wisdom, who replaced Johnson on Sunday, or the fit again Martin Kelly.

There is an outside chance that new signing Tiago Ilori could be risked at right-back but with the youngster being predominantly a centre-back that would seem highly unlikely.

Whoever is chosen, fans will hope that the rest of the defence can continue their impressive displays and that Liverpool can keep yet another clean sheet.
