Liverpool linked with cut-price Hernandez

Uruguay LiverpoolABEL Hernandez is the Uruguayan Liverpool are looking to sign in January, with the Palermo striker looking to move away from the side who were relegated from Serie A last season.

Having been linked with Arsenal, the Daily Express has stated that:

‘According to a regional morning newspaper, Liverpool are optimistic that they may be able to get Hernandez for a fee in the region of £4m in January. Suarez is likely to be keen on the move, with he and Hernandez known to be close friends.

Just before the close of the transfer window Hernandez said:

“The club and the coach told me that I could leave if the right offer was made and I think that has now arrived. They know what I want and they know what they promised me. I don’t want to lose the chance of playing at the World Cup next summer. I think playing in Serie A is beautiful, but the desire to be at World Cup 2014 is what has pushed me to ask for a transfer.”

Hernandez has scored 21 times in 86 games for Palermo, who currently find themselves in Italy’s Serie B, fuelling Hernandez’s concerns that he needs a more high profile stage to catch the attention of Uruguay’s national coach Oscar Tabarez.’

At only 23, Hernandez does have the potential to become a very good frontman, and if he arrived in January hopefully he would settle in quickly with compatriots Suarez and Sebastian Coates already at the club. However, he would almost certainly be a back up to the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Suarez and Coutinho, as well as potentially the likes of Victor Moses.

Therefore, for him, in a World Cup year, Liverpool may not be the right team as he wouldn’t be guaranteed regular football. Nevertheless, he would represent another option, and probably a better one than the currently on loan Fabio Borini and the early stuttering signing of Iago Aspas (early on in the season though, so plenty of time to turn it around). With a price tag of just £4m, should Liverpool snap up the Uruguayan?

    Great player!

  • Denis D says:

The thing is B Rodgers needs to bring in more class, quality Defensive and attacklng players to the club in next two Transfer Windows:

In January the owners need to give B Rodgers : £50-£60M to bring in these 5 important players:

1: GK: A Mccarthy(23) Of Reading for £4-£7M to compete and Cover Mignolet for next 5-10 years. ( For Now and Future)

2: DM: M’Vila (24) Of Rubin Kazan for £10-£15M to compete and Cover Lucas, A more mobile, powerful, Quicker, Tough Tackling player than Lucas Leiva who would do well against the players Lucas Struggles against Powerful, strong dominant midfielders( Capoue, Dembele, Mulumbu, Nzonzi, Schneiderlin, Sissoko, Tiote, Yaya and Wanyama)

3: RW / RWF: J Monetro(23) Of Monarcas Morelia in Mexico for £4-£7M to compete and Cover Sterling.

4: LW /LWF: B Arfa(26) Of Newcastle for £10-£15M to compete and Cover with IBE

5: FD: A Hernandez (23) Of Palermo should definately be brought to club for £3-£8M to compete with Sturridge and Suarez.

Then in the summer: These 4 dead wood average players need to be shipped out and shown the door:

    1: GK: B Jones 2: CB: S Coates 3: RB: J Flanagan 3: FD: F Borini

And then the owners would need to give B Rodgers another £55m-£70M in the summer to bring in three class, quality attacking players. All of them being Marquee signings.

1: AM: I Munian(21) Of A Bilbao for £16-£22m to compete and cover Coutinho

2: FD: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang(24) Of B Dortmund for £20-£25M to compete with Sturridge and hopefully Hernanderz ( If Club sign him in January)

3:FD: Michu (27) Of Swansea for £15-£22M to compete and Cover Suarez.

Over the next two Transfer windows: Four players need to be shown the door.

And 8 players need to brought to club for £105-£120m, Those 8 players would get our club back competing for the league in the season 2014/2015

I agree, liverpool need more class. Look what Arsene Wenger did he brought in a world class player Ozil and that boosted the whole team. Theres nothing wrong with buying smart but it’s always a gamble look at borini and joe allen a waste of 25M with that money we could’ve bring in a world class midfielder or attacker. B.Rodgers have taken steps to improve the liverpool squad but I think FSG should trust him with more money and Rodgers can bring in that two world class signings(1 mid 1 attacker). We have competition growing but not in all compartments if we get every player fighting to be in the starting 11 the rewards will come but Quality over Quantity is needed in lfc but in 3 or 4 years time we’ll be fighting for the title but consistency is needed and we have to give b.rodgers time so that everyone knows his style of play and we can play like men not kids but we on the right track for success….

As an englishman i want to see alex mccarthy playing first team football not playing second fiddle to mignolet. You need a strong english core but not sitting on the bench. I would sign tom ince, will hughes and maybe ward prowse. You can keep your fancy foreigners

      • Denis D says:

Stevie, You must not have faith in Mccarthy(23) , Mccarthy is a class, quality GK but no matter how many games he plays for Reading he will be no closer to the England team.

I think Mccarthy would push push push Mignolet all the way, every week he is that good as a Young GK and if Rodgers is not Bias.

Then we could have two young class quality Goalkeepers at club for next 5-10 seasons. Mignolet (25) cost club £9M, Mccarthy(23) would cost club £4-£8M if that, that would be still less than what Man United Brought De Gea.

But our club would have two young class GKS competing with one another for the next 5-10 seasons trying to be the best GK, that would only make our club better and stronger don’t you think.

And we are not in Europe this year, but hopefully next year we will be back in Champions league, then Mccarthy would definately play regularly whether in Cup competitions or the League.

  • Ivan Boskovic says:

Denis u play a lot of FM dont u?!

    • Denis D says:

Ivan, No clown. I don’t play computer at all and have not played a console for 3 years now.

Just i know my football and breathe eat sleep and play football,

Our club needs players that will change the side for the better straight away and offer class, quality competition for places straight away.

Thats y Allen, Alberto, Assaidi, Aspas and Borini are £40M worth of Joke.

The reason Coutinho, Sturridge have been successes are simple they are both class, quality players who are hungry to succeed and prove themselves at the club and have the abilities to world class players in future.

Alberto, Allen, Aspas, Borini and Allen were £40M worth of Potential, Our club do not have 5-6 years more time to try and get back in Champions league as all the teams around us are strengthening and become serious sides.

Its just the right players need to brought to club:

Reina for the last three seasons became Incomplacent because there was no class, quality competition for his place.

Gerrard and Lucas are now the same, in the last two games they have been dire, but as there is no real class competition for places in their positions no matter how poorly they both play if they are injury free and fit they play. Gerrard should only be used in the huge games, he should be rested. He is no Longer 23-28. He is 33years

Lucas is struggling to hit the form he was two seasons ago before he got injured in Cup Game at Chelsea, its not hard to see why our club in the last 5 seasons has not been in Champions league and why we have now become a top 7-10 in last five seasons.

The lack of class, quality, competition for places and depth is for all to see.

And in football who are the highest earners and normally nominated for player of the awards season after season: Attacking players.

We have 1 world class attacker and 2 class, quality attackers in squad of 25. ( Suarez, Coutinho and Sturridge) If the three of them are not all fully fit and in side, team struggle to score or penetrate teams.

And Mignolet is class, quality Gk and playing how Reina did for first two two years at club, but due to lack of class, quality competition for his place he became complacent and knew deep down no matter how poorly he played, if he was fully fit and injury free he was in the team. And at the moment, the same could be said about Mignolet, Agger, Johnson, Gerrard, Lucas, Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez.

If these players play poorly, no matter what if they are fully fit and injury free they are back in side, as there is no real class quality competition for their places.

Yet Skrtel does one thing wrong and he’s dropped?

That is why the owners need to back B Rodgers heavily in January and in the summer:

As the players ( Untouchables in the Squad) need some real class quality competition in squad so they kept on their toes.

      Ivan,

Do you think i Rodgers had M’Vila(23) at club, And a class, quality offensive Centre Midfielder at club, Do you Lucas and Gerrard would be playing against United or Sunderland this week? Hell no, on their last two performances against Swansea and Southampton . Both of them should be warming the bench but because our club have no real class competition for their places, The Untouchables will be playing no matter what if they are fit and injury free.

That is why in January Rodgers needs to bring in these 5 players: There should be No Untouchables in Squad: If you are not cutting it on pitch or doing the club, team, fans proud you should be benched and someone of the same class , or better should be given chance to do the shirt proud.

3: RW / RWF: J Montero(23) Of Monarcas Morelia in Mexico for £4-£7M to compete and Cover Sterling.

4: LW /LWF: B Arfa(26) Of Newcastle for £10-£15M to compete and Cover with IBE

5: FD: A Hernandez (23) Of Palermo should definately be brought to club for £3-£8M to compete with Sturridge and Suarez.e benched simple.

If Rodgers brought them 5 players to the club Ivan, do you think Lucas could under perform and still be in team? Do you think Aspas would get anywhere near the team? Do you think Mignolet will ever be complacent if he has someone younger who is class, quality and competing week in week out to take his place?

Class quality competition for places is key to any great club being a success

  • el says:

Lol well everybody got a deal

  • tony says:

we need the midfield its dead, go for mata or who ever but pliz 2 qaulity attacking midfielders

  • John smith says:

It really amazes me how Stevie G gets away with always being picked when quite clearly he is not and will never be the same player that won us the champion league.
Sentiments don’t win titles. time to get real LFC and tell Stevie G no more Hollywood passes and prepare for more time on the bench..
I am a big a Admirer of Stevie G But he can not play forever..!

    • ronald says:

      Well said mate!

    • Denis D says:

Well said John, Rodgers has some Untouchables in the Squad.

As there is no real class, quality competition for their places, so no matter how bad or poorly they play in a match, if they are injury and fit, they are straight back in the team the following game.

And these are Rodgers untouchables: Agger, Johnson, Gerrard, Lucas, Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez

  • ronald says:

No I agree with denis. That sort of business makes the team much stronger and most suredly one if the main contenders for the cup!

  • Max says:

Its same old same old!! Get excited and then get whacked forsix. One step forward and three stepsback. What the heck is said in the teamtalk when they play less quality teams?

Or are we a two Man team? Coutinho and Suarez??

  • denny says:

i tink we shld go for iniesta of barca as he hz refused 2 sign a new contract dn munian i tink we shld snap up nosa of real betis who iz like yaya toure dn get huges nd hernadez

    • Denis D says:

Denny, We should not be going for Iniesta, He is on the way out like Alonso, Xavi, Gerrard, Lampard they have all been world class players but their era is coming to an end. Whilst the Xisco, Cazorla, Ramsey, Wiltshire, Oscar, Ozil, Paulinho’s are starting.

B Rodgers should bring in I Munian(21) in the summer. The Younger quicker mobile upcoming Iniesta. And A Herrera(24) Young, Mobile Alonso type player. Both players are from A Bilbao and should be brought to club in £52M Deal.

Herrera would offer the club more class, quality, creativity than Allen and Henderson. And would cost the club £25-£32M as Man United are after him also. Good class quality playmaker

Munian is a quicker version of Coutinho, And score more goals than Coutinho.

The likes of Carrick, Gerrard, Lampard, Parker have had their days.

They all struggle now against the likes of the younger, quicker, more mobile players who are playing in or around centre midfield.

As the likes of Cabaye, Cazorla, Oscar, Ozil, Mata, Silva, Ramsey, Wiltshire, Nasri, Eriksen, Fernandinho, Nzonzi, Paulinho, Capoue, Schneiderlin, Sissoko and Wanyama.

Are all centre midfield or attacking midfielders with youth, Hunger, Mobility and some have some of these traits: Power, Pace, Skill, Strength and Trickery to their game.

And the likes of Carrick, Gerrard, Lampard and Parker are coming to the end of their careers, where the players above are on road to making name for themselves or at their peak ages and times in their careers.

That is why Our club going for X Alonso is a wrong move, if we want to bring a alonso type player back with good passing range and ability. Then we need to match Man United for the Signature of A Herrera(24) Of A Bilbao, because he is a more mobile young type Alonso player.

stevie u and fellow english are mediocre i don’t even like seeing many english in lfc cos they don’t have winning determination like spain, south americans even portugal and germany.

  • pino pino says:

pls Rodgers snap up hernandez cos he’s stronger than sturridge and aspas and also technically better than sturridge and aspas with another quality attacking and defensive midfielder with good winger then were set.y.n.w.a

  • papers says:

Rodgers has to admit that Borini was probably a mistake. Loaning out a squad player is usually a prelude to that player then being sold when the loan is up. I can see Borini being moved on should Hernandez join the club as he is clearly a better player.

  • pino pino says:

no am not a racist but it’s the truth.English players are lazy fact.

  • redsamoan says:

gotta agree on the stevie g point. but he’ll always be a club legend! (i just have this nagging feeling that he could have done better on the goal line to stop lovrens goal… dare i say it but younger stevie g legs would have done better to keep it out?)
