Johnson Sturridge LiverpoolThe Liverpool Echo reports that Liverpool are hopeful of the return of free scoring striker, Daniel Sturridge, in time for their trip to Swansea, however the news about right-back Glen Johnson is not looking good.

Sturridge is out of the England squad for their qualifying match against Ukraine tomorrow after sustaining a thigh injury last week. The 24 year old was a very slim possibility to be involved but, after discussing it with medical staff at Melwood, England were forced to accept that Sturridge would not be available in Kiev.

Sturridge, having missed out on training with England, returned to Liverpool on Tuesday and will now rehab his injury, and despite missing the England game, is hopeful of being involved when Liverpool’s make the journey to Swansea next week.

Glen Johnson, however, is a much more disappointing case. The right-back was forced to limp off in Liverpool’s game against Manchester United with an ankle injury. The Reds were unwilling to put an estimate on the time he will be sidelined but it is now believed to be around 10 weeks.

If that is the case, then Johnson will miss several games, including another match with Manchester United in the Capital One Cup. Johnson’s injury has also thrown doubt over his involvement in the rest of England’s qualifying campaign.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.
