Rodgers: will ‘fight aggressively’

Liverpool managerLIVERPOOL manager Brendan Rodgers has issued a stern warning to rival clubs, claiming that the Reds will ‘fight aggressively’ to keep hold of the top spot of the Premiership they have maintained in the early stages of the season, according to The Mirror

Liverpool’s 100% start to the season was put to an end by Swansea, but their unbeaten record remains, as a 2-2 draw clinched Liverpool the point they needed to sail back to first place in the Premiership.

Two horrific mistakes from former Red, Jonjo Shelvey, helped Liverpool bounce back after conceding a goal just 2 minutes into the game to go 2-1 up, only for Michu to equalise.

Rodgers, who actually came to Anfield from Swansea last summer, refused to go overboard but admitted that he is impressed with the quality the side is producing. Talking about sitting on top spot, Rodgers joked:

“You’d rather be there than be at the bottom!

“What it does is that the more you are up there, the more aggression and will and desire you have to stay there. It’s only four games in, but we’ve had four tough games and we have only lost once in the last 16 games, so we are getting a level of consistency and that was the biggest thing for me.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

LFC,BR and the players in particular must instill in themselves the winning mentality at any cost. Consider every match which we draw like we lost. Play to win till the last wistle. BR is a fan of Shankly so he should know better that when you finish first,we are champions but finish second we are nothing. This is not to say that we have to be champions this season but this will push the team to keep trying without giving up easily.
