The future’s bright, the future’s Red!

Shankly 100SOMEONE pinch me please I must still be dreaming.

Three games three wins without a single goal conceded is the best start for the Reds since 1994. What makes the start so much sweeter is the victory against the Auld Enemy at Anfield on Sunday.

Despite not playing as such, United are the defending champions but were relatively comfortably managed with few genuine causes for concern. The win has put us top of the table and even at this early stage of the season given fans a justifiable sense of optimism for the games ahead.

What really impressed me with the win against United was how solid the defence looked all game. After Kolo Toure was injured mid-week against Notts County a sense of fear and trepidation arose when considering the challenge posed by Man Utd on the horizon. Toure has developed a good relationship with Dan Agger becoming a lynch pin within at presently a water-tight defence. However Martin Skrtel slotted in seamlessly producing a near perfect performance and reminding all how good a defender he can be.

With the finalised signings of Mamadou Sakho and Tiago Ilori the gaffer has put all defenders on notice with the increased competition for places. I think it’s no coincidence Jose Enrique produced what for me was his best defensive display in a red shirt against United with the knowledge Aly Cissokho et al are waiting in wings.

Defence has always been the foundation of a successful team and it looks like we should be fully covered in that department.

The signing of Sakho particularly excites me. A 23-year-old left-footed centre-back who can also play at left-back he has been considered a major prospect for some time now. Believed to be one of Europe’s most exciting defenders Sakho is blessed with pace, power and a fierce tackle thrown in for good measure. Frozen out at PSG due to their numerous big money signings Anfield could prove the ideal environment for Sakho to re-establish himself as a top defender in time for the World Cup next summer.

Ilori also arrives with a growing reputation. Described as a classy defender who’s good on the ball and dominant in the air he should prove a more than useful addition to the squad.

Brendan Rogers has stamped his mark on the squad now and so far the prognosis is looking positive. With Sturridge scoring on a regular basis and our defence keeping opposition attacks at bay the future definitely looks bright this season.

O.K. we have competition at the back, but we still have no defensive midfield, which has been the problem for our back four since Mascherano left. Moses is’nt exactly what the fans were hoping for either, can’t see us improve going forward.

    • Pets says:

      The negativity..

    • Ozred says:

Can’t see us improving??? We’ve just had our best start in 20 years, have replaced defensive liabilities in reina and cara with upgraded versions who r improving, Lucas is back to his best, Kelly back from injury, wisdom another year older, sterling a clear improver over summer, aspas showing great signs, Alberto and ibe a couple for the future, Henderson better with every game, sturridge… What does it take to please u people?

      • Patrick says:

Ozred you obviously have no idea about English football. There has been little or no improvement player for player in our squad since last season

And 3 wins is great , but this is not a strong squad.

        • no sheep says:

          Migs>pepe

Now can you please explain how the squad is weaker the. When Rodgers took over.

        • Ozred says:

Oh dear… Did u just say that? Oh u did… And now u can never be taken seriously unless u retract..

Oh weve won the first 3 including utbut we r still crap…. Go support the Yankees.

  • aaron says:

  • pino pino says:

  • Raam says:

The transfer window is closed. So, theres no point in whining anymore about who to sign and who not to. Liverpool has started with a bang. Supprising a lot of people in EPL and us the supporters, why dont we return the afford by cheering them..!! What really supprised me was, BR packed one of his favourite pets to Sunderland on the final day. I’m impressed..well done boss.

    • Patrick says:

Yes im impressed that Rodgers was big enough to get rid of Borini, he needs to do the same for Allen

      • no sheep says:

Borini was not sent out onloan to get rid of him. It to get him game time/goals. Let give him a couple of months without bashing him and we will see what he is made of. Bet there will be some people on here proved wrong again. You know the same ones that were proved wrong about fsg And Rodgers.

        • Ozred says:

The same ones who don’t have the courage to post on an Internet forum because they r proven to be plastic fakes… Oh u must b talking about Dennis d and tommy. Oh no that’s right. Dennis d miraculously got a job as soon as we started winning. Pigs.

  • Kings XI Chelsea says:

Rodgers done very good business. Brought. Good players. It is a step forward. A top 4 finish will attract more marquee players to Liverpool FC. The biggest thing is Suarez is still in the team.

  • allaboutanfield says:

Really glad that Liverpool managed to get the central defense fixed. Now hope that our new lads can settle well at Anfield . Looking forward to next game.

  • Raam says:

Talk about future..we are well stocked in our acedamy..Ibe, Sterling, Wisdom,Robinson,Flanagan,Kelly are already playing with the first team. Then there is J.Sinclair,Coady,Texiera,Suso,Yesil, with the arrival of Alberto, Ilori, and with Hocko and Zivkovic under discussion..hopefully Will Hughes joins us in near future with Luis Muriel and Luciano Vietto,Danilo. Sturridge, Coutinho, Sakho and Sissokho, Moses(if they sign permanently) are just 23+ and havent even peaked yet,the future will be bright red indeed. We dont have to worry about marquee signings in future anymore as we already have them. But above anything else, my most important wish is to see our captain lift the EPL champions trophy before he retires and become an immortal. He have acheived everything else

    • Iseoluwa says:

Infact your comment is d best i ever read since i supported Liverpool. U know why? Cos u really wish my greatest footballer ever well. I pray everyday for him to lift d epl trophy. I even named my son Gerrard cos i love watching him play. He is reason of my supporting Liverpool.

  • mentor says:

We are the best for now, I’m really happy for the signing we’ve made. BR should please look up for a deadly finisher.

  • Raam says:

Iseoluwa, good for you bro..hope to see your son play for Liverpool in future. YNWA.

  • Odoh says:

Rodgers has many doubters…he’ll prove dm wroung with tym

  • Erin says:

It’s 3 games in the season. Come down, stop dreaming.
Spurs have a powerful squad, arsenal have a better manager, and the other 3 teams, are not worth talking about as you all know them.
    Come down
