LFC fansLiverpool’s Brendan Rodgers has stressed that the Reds’ home ground, Anfield, must become a fortress if the club are to continue their fantastic start to this Premiership campaign, according to ESPN FC

The Northern Irishman’s side, currently second in the table, have only suffered two home defeats so far this season.

Rodgers is well aware that their latest setback, a 1-0 defeat to Southampton on September 21st, was a severely disappointing result, however he was delighted to see how his players bounced back to their best with a convincing 3-1 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.

Rodgers said:

“It was more of a disappointment than a setback against Southampton. We can’t really have an excuse. We didn’t play well.

“What we’ve shown is we’ve had enough over the last few months to get a win when we haven’t played well. But we just didn’t do enough against Southampton.

“But our reaction after that game has been very good. We played well in a couple of games and got a result in the last one.

“The atmosphere at Anfield this year has been brilliant for us. We have to make sure that our football, and the quality and intensity of our game, gets the crowd up again.”

“When we do that, Anfield is a very difficult place for visiting teams to play. That’s something I’m very keen to do — to make sure we have a good record at home — because if we’re going to be a team challenging, that record at home has to be very, very good.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.
