The Liverpool Echo today reports that Liverpool FC defender Martin Kelly has spoken of his desire to get back into the first team, but acknowledges that he will have to play a waiting game.
England defender Kelly, 23 who can operate at right-back or centre-back has recently returned from a twelve month absence due to a cruciate knee injury.
His return to action was later than anticipated but that was due to a minor set back. However, Kelly is now injury free and ready to step into the first team when required to do so by manager Brendan Rodgers.
“You have to have a lot of patience in football as well as knowing when you are given your chance you have to take it,” he said.
“It has taken a long time to get back to full fitness. I feel really strong physically now and I am biding my time to get my chance and grab it with both hands.
“It has taught me to look after myself in terms of what my body needs to cope with the demands of the Premier League.
“Over the past 12 months I’ve been getting myself to a physical condition which will cater for that and I’m raring to go to get that chance.”

The only way that Kelly gets his chance to play is for one of the first choice defenders to get injured. Maybe Liverpool should loan him out together with Wisdom in the winter transfer window.
