ACCORDING to The Daily Post, Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho has targeted the Reds’ clash with Premiership leaders, Arsenal, for his return from a shoulder injury, after recovering quicker than was initially expected.
Coutinho sustained the injury in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Swansea City on September 16th, an injury that requires surgery and therefore rendered him incapable of featuring.
At first, it was expected that the 21 year old would be out action for 6 weeks, but Coutinho has already started training with the club’s physiotherapists this week and looks to be in good enough shape to make his return for Liverpool’s trip to the Emirates, where Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to scoop the 3 points against Arsene Wenger’s side.
The news of Coutinho’s early return will be gratefully received by Rodgers, who brought Coutinho from Serie A outfit, Inter Milan, for £8.5 million in January.
Since Coutinho’s arrival at Anfield, Rodgers has seen the Brazilian go from strength to strength, establishing himself as a key figure in a season where the Reds hope to test their new look side.
Liverpool will be hoping to continue what is their best start to a Premiership campaign for 5 years, when they take on West Brom at Anfield on Saturday.
