LiverpoolLIVERPOOL FC centre-back and club vice-captain Daniel Agger has spoken about his desire to reclaim his spot in the heart of the Liverpool defence now he has returned from injury, reports The Liverpool Echo.

Having had to settle for a place on the bench in recent weeks having returned from a rib injury, Danish defender Agger, 28, has revealed that he has his mind set firmly on reclaiming his position in the reds defence.

Having again spoken about his desire to stay at Anfield following yet more speculation linking him with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona, Agger sees his future firmly with the Anfield club:

“The [Barcelona] move was up to the club,” Agger said.

“The club would not sell me. I do not know [if I will play at another club]. Right now I have two and a half years left on my contract, and I intend to fulfil my contract. I’m glad to be at Liverpool.”

Agger, who has made over 200 appearances for the club since his move to Anfield for £6 million back in 2006 is happy with the competition for places at Anfield.

“In January I’ll have been at Liverpool for eight years,” he said.“If you count how many central defenders have gone through the system during that period you’ll need to use more than one hand. I’m standing there still.

“For me [staying at Anfield], it’s also about making the team as strong as possible because I’m hungry to win something.”

A fully Fit Agger is the Best ball playing centre back in world football, Our two best centre backs at club are Agger and Skrtel. And that has been the case for the last three years, just rodgers benched skrtel for some mad mistakes he made last season.

But if Rodgers is to stick with the 3 man defence: The best three man defence is:

Skrtel RCB Agger CB Sakho LCB

Agger is a composed football playing centre back, fully fit and injury free the only over ball playing centre back who matches Agger is Pique.

If Agger had skrtel’s pace and speed he would be the best centre back around. As that is the main thing he lacks, But Agger is not slow. He has good speed, but against the quickest strikers and attackers Skrtel’s pace and speed is needed.
