LiverpoolLIVERPOOL FC’s Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva is dreaming of playing in the 2014 World Cup in his homeland of Brazil after a recall to the Brazilian national squad, report The Liverpool Echo.

Reds star Lucas has spoken about his ambitions after being recalled  for the first time since his injury nightmare.

The 26 year old has been recalled for the teams upcoming international friendlies against Zambia and South Korea.

Since suffering his anterior cruciate injury back in 2011, Lucas has found himself out of the Brazilian set up and has yet to add to his 20 caps.

Now though, having impressed coach Luiz Felipe Scolari enough to get a recall, Lucas is determined to make his mark.

“It means so much to be involved again with Brazil,” Lucas told the ECHO.

“I know I will be tested over these friendly games but it’s up to me now. I have to ensure that if I play I produce good performances in those two games.

“But it’s not just about the matches, even in training sessions and off the pitch when I am around the squad I have to be a good person and be involved with the group.

“I have really missed the atmosphere of being around the national team. Playing for my country means a lot to me and I am really looking forward to experiencing that again.

“Hopefully I can do a good job. It’s not long now until the World Cup and there aren’t many international games left before it.”
