napoliLiverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has expressed his delight at being linked with a move to La Liga giants, Barcelona, according to Sky Sports News

Reports coming from Spain have suggested the Barcelona could make a move for Reina next year, after his season long loan at Serie A side Napoli has finished.

Barcelona’s current number 1, Victor Valdes, is expected to depart the Nou Camp come the end of the season after decided not to renew his contract.

Barcelona expressed an interest in Reina during the summer transfer window, though the Reds instead opted to send him on loan to Napoli, though the 31 year old has admitted last month that his time at Liverpool is all but over – leaving the door open for the switch.

Whilst Reina is delighted with the prospect of returning to his boyhood club, he insists his main priority at the moment is doing the best he can for Rafa Benitez’s side.

Speaking to Radio Catalunya, Reina said: “I am happy that my name has been linked with Barcelona, but right now I’m focused on Napoli and doing well here.

“In the summer, we’ll see what happens.

“There has been nothing established yet, but I think Barcelona will have a long list of eligible candidates to replace Valdes – should he leave.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

He should get his agent to talk directly to Barcelona instead of talking to the press.
