LiverpoolACCORDING to Liverpool’s official websiteReds defender Martin Skrtel believes the devastating effect the partnership of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge caused Sunderland on Sunday is only a mere sign of what is to come from the duo.

Sturridge provided both assists for Luis Suarez to mark the Uruguayan’s return to the Premiership, as well as notching himself yet another goal this season as Brendan Rodgers’ men ran rampant over a Sunderland side who are still yet to win a game this season, winning 3-1 at the Stadium of Light.

Skrtel was in the team for the victory, and is fully confident that the duo of Suarez and Sturridge will continue to improve, going from strength to strength and develop an unstoppable working relationship.

Speaking to the club website, Skrtel said of the pair:

“I am happy with the result. We played really well and we deserved this result.

“I am also happy for Luis because he needs his goals. I think everyone could see how good those two [Sturridge and Suarez] were and I think they can form a great partnership. We will see what that brings.”

Sturridge and Suarez have already amassed an impressive 7 goals in Liverpool’s opening games, and that is only after Suarez’s first game back.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

“as Brendan Rodgers’ men ran rampant over a Sunderland side ” …..did you even see the game? Sunderland were by far the more determined side but yes, we made the most of our chances.

The most important thing is that Liverpool won the game and got 3 points. Almost everyone played well except for the midfield.

People saying Liverpool are better without Suarez are just wrong.
