LiverbirdAFTER such a promising start to the campaign the mood at Anfield is understandably upbeat these days. With the team beginning to blossom on the pitch hope reigns eternal of a successful season ahead with silverware secured come May.

A major reason for fans indulging in such flights of fantasy is the fact the Redmen now boast arguably the most feared strike-force in the land.

The Suarez-Sturridge combination, recently dubbed SAS by many, is by far the most potent pairing in the Premiership.

Suarez has netted 19 goals in his last 22 games, while Sturridge has 19 in 25 games since joining the Reds in January. However for me our future success also depends on developing the SMS alliance by throwing Victor Moses into the equation.

Following his arrival from Chelsea the Nigerian international has made a solid start to life at Liverpool. His debut goal against Swansea was somewhat side-lined by the disappointing result and the surrender of our winning run. However his contribution to the team in recent weeks has increased and this consistency in performance could make his signing an important factor in our future aspirations.

Against Crystal Palace at the weekend Moses was one of our best players and deserved a goal for his efforts. He probably would have been on the score-sheet with a touch more luck but his involvement in the first goal and endeavour throughout was a positive influence on the team’s performance.

It’s never easy playing against your first club for the first time so the way the 22 year old handled the occasion on Saturday additionally deserves mention. A mature head on young shoulders Moses has the qualities to deliver on his unquestioned talent.

As a youngster at Palace Victor made 58 appearances scoring 11 goals. Sold to Wigan for a cut-price £2.5 million due to Palace’s financial problems, he went on to establish himself as a regular with the Latics. After two successful seasons Moses caught the eye of big spending Chelsea and joined the Blues in 2012 for £9 million making a modest 23 appearances with 5 goals thrown in. Still with a lot to prove Liverpool could provide the perfect platform for Victor to showcase his ability further while contributing to the success of the Reds on the field.

Having represented England at every youth level Victor decided to play international football for the country of his birth after finding his opportunities limited with the senior England team. This decision displays the deep desire and commitment to becoming the best player he can be and play at the highest level possible.

Taking a leaf out of Dan Sturridges playbook his loan move can provide the chance to catapult his career to the next level which Moses seems keen to grab with both hands.

Not only will his skill and pace add another dimension to the Liverpool attack he should also chip in with a few goals which always helps. With Victor able to operate either out wide or in what seems to be the gaffer’s favoured position right now with the injury to Couthinho of behind the SAS strike-force, opposition defences should face a testing time in games ahead.

His namesake delivered the Ten Commandments to the masses. If Victor can help deliver a 19th league title, the Anfield faithful will all be believers once more.

Agreed. What is the point of helping to improve a chelsea player? We have to give him back at the end of the season. Give sterling and ibe more playing time. Especially ibe. He looks a top talent

  • stevie says:

And while I am at it, who the hell is this hokey koke blokey from atletico madrid? Brendan if you’re listening…..stop farting about looking in spain just because it’s trendy and sign a top english talent……will hughes. Pull out all the stops to get him in january. He can be a liverpool player for the next ten years

  • pino pino says:

He should buy both Koke and Hughes cos Hughes is at this stage inexperienced so that he will be understudy to SG and Koke. And mind u stevie u are a racist, always against foreigners,it’s not good. Ask Kenny Dalglish

pino pino…….i am not racist. i happen to believe english talent is overlooked most of the time because clubs are too busy looking abroad. there is english talent under their noses but they can’t be bothered looking. it is the epl and i would like to see more english players playing more games. i want to see my country and club do well. not too much to ask is it? i don’t mind foreign players but when only 31% of english players turn out in the epl something is not right. these views do not make me a racist.
