Not The Result We Deserve, But The Result We Needed

362566_galleryYou would be very, very hard-pressed to find anybody that would call Saturday’s game a success in any way other than the result.

The performance was limp but effective, the players looked laboured; many were/are tired and the squad is ridiculously bare, whilst the total lack of options has left us with no option but to play our strongest side through nothing but necessity. If we hadn’t on Saturday we would have had to put out a team full of kids.

While there was praise for Brendan Rodgers for fielding his strongest available side he must’ve been wishing for even just one or two more loan signings so he could rest a couple of his key men but we’ve had not such luck this season.

A big concern is the paucity of options but an even bigger concern is the fact that our players just can’t seem to stay fit.

While bemoaning the next run of injuries that were announced around the same time as Salah was having his medical at Stamford Bridge was bad enough, news of Allen’s newest injury overnight prior to the game against Bournemouth just seemed to be so farcical that you almost had to laugh.

Liverpool are in perhaps the worst position – squad-wise – that they have been in for years. We’re not so desperate that we’d like to take Konchesky back but should his almost-equal, Aly Cissokho, get injured at any point soon we may be asking for him to join us on loan.

All that the fans, manager and his players can hope is that the owners will back the great run we’ve had so far and try to help the team push on because without some kind of strengthening Liverpool will almost certainly lose out on the top-4.

What is quite sad is that if we’d moved quickly and decisively from the start of the window the top-4 spot may already be a forgone conclusion and we may well be looking at a title-tilt. As it stands we look like even Everton might beat us to the prize.

The simple, straight fact is, this is entirely unacceptable. No matter what anybody tries to sell you about ‘we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes’ the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and even our neighbours that we will take on on Tuesday – Everton – seem to be able to close a deal but we have struggled to do so when it comes to our primary target for the past 18 months.

Liverpool needs options and even if primary, permanent targets cannot be acquired then stop-gap loan signings are surely not too much to ask for? Otherwise we risk being permanently left behind.

It’s so hard to believe that a club of our stature has such a backward, slow-moving process when it comes to transfers and if some of the rumours we’ve no doubt all read in the past few days are true then maybe the most crucial transfers in the coming, remaining four days of this window will be some of the non-playing staff being given their P45’s.

it’s so funny watching players being linked to littlepool then going elsewhere… so many these days, eriksen, sigurdson to spurs and now salah to chelsea. when will littlepool fans realise no one wants to join their club anymore? and all you happy chappies thinking suarez is staying get real. he only signed the new contract so he could bail at the end of the season. that’s right pool fans, regardless of where you finsih, even if you won the league, suarez is gine. That is the real deal he made when he signed the new contract, play a few more months then he gets his transfer to spain. so, the cold truth is littlepool despite having a season so far beyond anyones wildest dreams are in a false position and the future goes from grim to grimmer.

The term “littlepool” wasn’t funny in the first sentence but using it 3 times is pretty sad! Also, your grammar and spelling is pretty shocking along with the rest of the points you have tried to make.

Sometimes it’s quite pleasant being deceived by Rodgers and his non tactics. Another four goals at home, another striking performance.

One question? That theory about the more positive supporters being deceived and deluded by the ‘easiest start ever’…. can that silly debate be put bed now?

were are in good potition to grab UCL. now after 23 games we are in 46 point. 5 loose and 4 draw.. good

so after this we only have 5 more loose and 4 draw to get : 38 game 8 draw 10 loose

and the total point is : 68 point = of coz we can play at UCL if 3 team at top dropping their point.

the suggest : 5 loose : dont loose with top 5 team.
4 draw : dont draw with bottom.

    • k says:

must draw with arsenal . chelsea and man city
must wint with MU and Hotspur

This 5 game must get 9 point minimum

and after that 10 game we must grab total 21 point minimum ( 7 game must win with bottom )
