Victor Moses: Step up or time to be shipped out

Moses LiverpoolMUCH was made when Liverpool signed winger Victor Moses on loan from Chelsea on deadline day, effectively taking the place of Downing who was sold to West Ham.

It was an opportunity for Moses to show the Chelsea hierarchy what they would be missing and to add the creativity that we had been lacking from wide areas.  I think some fans were hoping that he would have the same impact that Sturridge had when he joined from Stamford Bridge in the January window of 2013.

I was sceptical of the signing to be honest as Victor only had one ‘great’ season at Wigan in the league before he was snapped up by Chelsea.  He did show glimpses of his ability during his first season at Chelsea.

However for me he has not lived up to his full potential  since joining us as I have said in previous articles apart from his goal against Swansea in September, where he did have a good debut, he has not been able to continue it. Now before some people say he has not been given a chance to prove his worth – I would have to disagree he has been given plenty of opportunities to play and show us fans what he is ultimately paid to do, whether it be starting against Hull at the KC Stadium.

Sadly he had a woeful game and his loss of possession led to Hull’s opening goal and we all know what happened there. He was even given a chance from the subs bench against Manchester City to try and change the game.

Before the Oldham game on Sunday I thought it was time the club should cancel the loan agreement just like they did with Nuri Sahin last year. Moses has looked disinterested, his attitude and how he has applied himself has been appalling.

Remember his interview with the media where he said ‘play me and I will get 20 league goals’? It is okay having confidence as a player but being too cocky can back fire.  Like Jan Molby said in his Liverpool Echo column yesterday, I don’t think Victor realises how lucky he is to be given a ‘second chance’.

No matter who you are I want every player when they put the Red shirt on not only for the first time BUT EVERY TIME to have passion, belief and most of all a DESIRE! And all of them were missing on Sunday afternoon, it was no surprise that he was taken off at half time. Now if you cannot motivate yourself and even show what you are made of against Oldham then I am sorry but you just cannot cut it. Moses needs to reevaluate his overall performances and what he brings to the team.

I have also mentioned to people in the last few weeks that why we didn’t keep Oussama Assaidi after all we would not have had to pay loan fees, wages. Oussama has shown more during his loan spell at Stoke than what Moses has achieved with Liverpool. Just look at the goals against Everton and Chelsea.  Even Molby agrees with me:

“Hindsight is a great thing but we would have been better off keeping Oussama Assaidi and not signing Moses.”

Moses needs to step up to the mark if he wants to finish the season with Liverpool  he needs to realise that he is playing for the biggest club in the world with a rich and glorious history before it is too late and he thinks what could have been.

Do you think Victor Moses’ loan should be cut short? Please leave me your opinions in the comments section.

Would much rather assaidi back than Moses. Assaidi can be a good impact player this year and has the proven ability to turn no points into 1 or 1 point into 3 against good opposition.

Currently we have absolutely nothing off the bench that impacts the game. Bring assaidi back bring in salah and there’s a couple of good creative options that could help us in to cl

Thank goodness Moses is only a loanee. 🙂 Liverpool should recall Assaidi after his loan spell is over.

  • Liverpool fan says:

Moses should be sent back , his heart is not at Liverpool. But talk of Assaidi is nonsense , he is nowhere near good enough for LFC

  • Patrick says:

Don’t want any loan player from Chelsea. Who is the big club here ????
