FBL-FRA-ESP-FRIENDLY-PSG-REALMADRIDUsually, by mid-week, transfer stories are at their height as the distance between the previous weekends Premier League action and the upcoming weekend of games are at their most distant, and this week is no different.

With Liverpool shining like a bright beacon in the Premier League at the moment, it is no surprise that the club are at the centre of many current rumours, some more interesting than others!

The Daily Express led the way with news that Brendan Rodgers has placed Liverpool at the head of the line for Barca ‘keeper, Victor Valdes.  The 32 year old has been linked with a move away from the Catalan club for what feels like almost as long as he’s been there and whilst billionaire French clubs PSG and Monaco are interested the Reds are ahead of the pack.

With Pepe Reina quite certain to move to Barcelona in the Summer, and Simon Mignolet seemingly going from bad to worse as the season goes on, an experienced international goalkeeper could be just what Liverpool needs to take give the young Belgian some competition.

Elsewhere, the Metro are reporting that the stakes for Liverpool reaching the Champions League just got even higher with news that the club seem to be lining up a move for Real Madrid midfielder, Isco.

The youngster is already a Spanish international and made his first big move to the Madrid giants but with Bale joining from Spurs, Modric, Alonso, Khedira, Illarremendi, Ronaldo and di Maria finding it is unlikely that Isco will find much football unless one or more of those players moves on.

For that reason, the Metro believe that Liverpool are prepared to break their transfer record (let’s forget who that was, please?) by making a £37 million bid for the 21 year old.  The prospect of an attack already consisting of Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho and Sterling seeing the addition of Isco is one to make even the most cynical Liverpool fans salivate.

Finally, the Metro also report that Liverpool are to make a move for Hoffenheim play-maker Firmino.  The Brazilian has been having a barn-storming season for the mid-table German club with 11 goals and 8 assists in 21 games.

The paper is unclear as to how much Hoffenheim are likely to ask for but seem certain that they will not accept a derisory offer for the 22 year old.

Liverpool are believed to have made the midfielder their ‘prime target’ for the summer but the same was also said of Valdes and Isco, depending on where you get your daily transfer gossip, so the validity of each of these rumours can be taken with a pinch of salt!

However, should all or any prove to have a grain of truth to them, then the summer transfer window will prove to be a very exciting one indeed.

Cannot understand this. Why not just keep Reina and send poor mignolet to bench ?

  • stevie says:

or make sure valdes goes to citeh and get joe hart. who the hell is firmino? do these players actually exist or do they think of the silliest names they can think of, put them down on a piece of paper then pull them out of a bag at random?

If we can maintain standard and be harder to beat at the back and we make top 4.

B Rodgers needs to clear out these 10 / Ten dead wood average or injury prone players:

    1: GK: B Jones 6: RW / RWF: O Assaidi

    2: RB: M Kelly 7: FD: I Aspas

    3: CB: S Coates 8: FD: F Borini

    4: CB: K Toure

    5: CM/ AM: Alberto

And the two abyzmal,Pathetic loan signings: A Cissokho LB and V Moses LWF / RWF

B Rodgers does not need to spend £37M on Isco(20) Of Real Madrid, he should spend £37M on Koke(21) Of A Madrid for £17-21M CM and A Lallana(25) Of Southampton for 12-16M AM

If and when B Rodgers gets our club back into Champions league: FSG needs to back B Rodgers with £120-£140M over the next two Transfer Windows.

And B Rodgers should bring in these nine /9 class quality players: To make Squad more complete and competitive and full of more class and quality:

    Five Defensive Players:

1: GK: A Mccarthy(24) Of Reading for £4-£7M to compete and cover S Mignolet(25) for the next 4-6 years

2: CB: K Papadopolous(21) Of Schalke for £8-£12M to compete and cover M Skrtel(28) for the next 2- 3 years before taking over from Skrtel

3: RB: N Clyne(23) Of Southampton for 6-10M to compete and cover G Johnson(28) for the next 2- 3 years before taking over from Johnson

4: LB: S Umtiti(20) Of Lyon for 4-7M to compete and cover J Enrique(27) for the next 2-3 years before taking over from Enrique

5: DM: M’Vila(23) Of Rubin Kazan for 7-11M to compete and cover L Leiva (26)

4 Class Creative Pacey Quick Attacking players:

    6: CM: Koke(21) Of A Madrid for 17-21M to compete with J Allen(23) and J Henderson(23) for the next 3-5 years

7: AM: A Lallana(25) Of Southampton for 12-16M to compete with Coutinho(21) and Suso(20) for the next 3- 4 years

8: LW / LWF: Y Konoplyanka(25) Of Dnipro for 12-16M to compete with Ibe(18) for next 2-4 years

    9: FD: L Muriel(23) Of Udinese for 8-14M to compete with Sturridge(24) for the 3- 5 years

So Rodgers needs to ship out the ten dead wood average players at club in the summer and over the next two transfer windows to bring in those nine/9 class quality players to replace the ten/10 dead wood average players who offer the club very little.

    • stevie says:

denis……by compete with………do you actually mean ‘replace’? call me old fashioned if you like but i want 6 or 7 englishmen to start every game. i know what will happen if your fancy foreign players turn up at te club. we’ll end up like citeh…..god forbid. joe hart, micah richards and jack rodwell would be excellent additions. rodwell is too good to sit on citeh’s bench just because he doesn’ speak spanish!

      • Denis D says:

Stevie, When was the last time we as a country won a world cup or Euro’s?

A Mccarthy(24) is Young English GK. N Clyne(23) is Young English RB. A Lallana(25) is a 25 year old class quality creative attacking midfielder.

Stevie i am saying B Rodgers should bring in the class, quality players who will do a great job for the side.

The 6 other players i mentioned B Rodgers should bring in are what club desperately need:

1: DM: M’Vila(23) Of Rubin Kazan for 7-11M If you can name me english DM better than him then B Rodgers should bring him to club

2: LB: S Umtiti(20) is a class quality pacey quick attacking left back, who would cost club between 4-7M. L Shaw(23) Of Southampton is class, quality left back but he is going to cost any club looking to buy him between £20-£27M. And that is something i do not agree with, why spend £20-£27M on a left back when you can get a good young pacey quick solid left back abroad for £4-8M

3: CB: K Papadopolous(21) Of Schalke is a powerful strong mobile quick centre back who club could bring in for 7-12M, We have been linked with S Caulker recently but he is not good enough to tie Agger, Sakho or Skrtel’s boots let alone compete with them.

The best english centre backs are taken and in good sides who don’t and won’t sell:
P Jagielka, J Terry and G Cahill. Apart from those three english centre backs, the other English Centre backs in the premier league don’t even come close to their calibre, class or quality.

4: CM: Koke(21) Of A Madrid is a class ,creative, mobile, quality player who would cost club between 17-22M. We had a class, quality english midfielder we let go who is scoring good goals here and there( J Shelvey(21)) The best english centre midfielders in Premiership are not available: J Wiltshire, R Barkley and Oxlaide – Chamberlain. We have two class quality English Centre midfielders ( Gerrard (33) and Henderson(23) ) J Allen (23) is a class , quality player who plays for Wales. So bringing in a class, quality Spanish international to the centre of park/Engine room should be a good thing.

5: LW / LWF: Y Konoplyanka(25) is a class creative direct pacey quick winger who will trouble any full back in the world one vs one. Club can and should bring him to club in summer for 14-16M

There are seven class quality English wingers in premier league performing well at the moment and the best one plays for us ( R Sterling): A Johnson Of Sunderland, N Redmond of Norwich, S Noone of Cardiff, N Dyer Of Swansea and A Townsend of Tottenham.

None of the above are better than Y Konoplyanka(25), but if we could not bring Konoplyanka(25) in the summer for £14-16M. Then B Rodgers should bring in A Johnson of Sunderland in swap deal with F Borini and £3m Cash and also bring in N Redmond Of Norwich for 6-7M

6: FD: L Muriel(23) Of Udinese is a pacey powerful skilfull striker with a good finish. He would be great addition to side, apart from W Rooney and D Sturridge, there are no outstanding English strikers in premiership.

D Ings Of Burnley and C Austin Of QPR are both good class quality strikers but both are no where near as good as L Muriel(23)

So Stevie, Before you pull out the just English madness. We are looking for class, quality and for similar or better than what we have. And we have the best English striker in league at moment, the only person close to him in class, quality is W Rooney.

Other than that no other English striker comes close to competing with D Sturridge(24)

        • stevie says:

Denis…always like your comments as you obviously put some thought in to what you write. My argument is that we ignore what is under our noses and go for someone with a funny name and dodgy accent. English talent is out there but do we look for it anymore? I want to see alex mccarthy playing first team football not bench warming watching mignolet. Clyne would be good but do we need a right back? We have johnson, kelly, wisdom and flanagan for that spot. I would certainly go for adam lallana but why weren’t we looking at him when he was playing in league one? Because premier league clubs don’t bother looking in league one anymore. And do you really disagree that hart, richards and rodwell wouldn’t be good buys at the right price? As for danny ings…….20 years ago nobody would bat an eyelid if we’d bought him from burnley. Now all people say is ‘can he do it in the premier league’? Yes he probably can so it wouldn’t be a risk. Muriel hasn’t really shone this season

          • stevie says:

Forgot to mention konoplyanka…..would he not halt ibe’s progress? That lad will play for england by the time he is 21 so encourage him not block his path
