Reds Chase Valencia Midfielder

Kuban-v-Valencia-Daniel-Parejo-Artur-Tlisov_3013455With Brendan Rodger’s ‘War Chest‘, likely to be filled to overflowing with Champions League riches by the summer, we’re sure to see some significant transfers moving to and from the club.

So far, we’ve seen a number of names – some more interesting than others – and the latest link to Liverpool falls somewhere in between ‘who’s he again?’ and ‘I’d sell my grandmother to have him in the side’.

Dani Parejo is a 24 year old currently plying his trade with mid-table Valencia side. The midfielder has had a solid couple of seasons with Valencia, after his move from Getafe, following spells at Real Madrid and a rather uninspiring loan move to QPR.

With a handful of goals and assists, the Spaniard is hardly one to set the world alight but his ability to play in several positions may be a big advantage. On the other hand, it may also be to his detriment, as we’ve seen with players in the past; being a Jack of all trades does not often lead to big money moves to top clubs.

Described as an ‘all-rounder’, Parejo is easily a player you could imagine Rodgers being interested in, with his range of passing and high pass-completion rate but given the amount of players with more zest and verve currently at the club (and returning, such as Suso) that would likely be ahead of him, it’s unlikely he’d fit into the Reds current system.

With Liverpool desperate for another striker, a back-up for Lucas Mignolet, and a couple of top-level full-backs in the summer, it’s unlikely that Rodgers will once again move for a middling Spanish midfielder, after his transfers for Alberto and Aspas have proven to have been quite unsuccessful so far.

On the other hand, Valencia coach Juan Antonio Pizzi is highly unlikely to sanction the move, unless Liverpool stump up a significant transfer fee, so I’d probably mark this one under ‘most likely not going to happen’, but as we’ve seen, stranger things have happened.

I agree David. We don’t need this type of player. We do need more strength in midfield, but would prefer a powerful player like Granit Xhaka.

go back to playing football manager you joker –

wholesale changes to a team challenging for the title would be ridiculous and luckily would never happen – the only likely sales from your list are reina (for closer to 5m). assaodi and aspas (for less than 8m)

we need defenders but vertonghen for 20m would never happen – be closer to 30m….would like to see caulker and isco or firmino but suspect that would be it – perhaps a left back or two.

montoya is available on a free at moment
