A Path Revealing Itself

1205066-25169383-640-360What happens now exactly? Brendan’s Brilliant Reds, that’s what happens. All day, every day. Officially in the title race. We can say it now. Everyone else seem to be saying it, so it would be silly if we didn’t.

The sea may have been angry that day – I don’t know because I didn’t check – but David Moyes’ Manchester United were certainly not. The submissiveness and the meekness was as visible as it was surprising. Straight from the off we could spot the difference between the two sides; it took Gary Neville about ten minutes to conclude something had to be done with the shape of the Manchester United team, as Liverpool were passing it around with ease – exploiting their numerical advantage in the central areas and taking advantage of the big pitch to stretch their opponent vertically and horizontally. And that was pretty much it. Utter dominance for ninety minutes, at Old Trafford. Oh, and then we got a bunch of penalties. Good times.

There have been many a test this season – no more so than Cardiff this afternoon – as I’ve previously touched upon. A lot of opportunities for the skeptics to raise their fingers and warn us that ‘They may have won this game, but the next one will be the true test!’. Which of course is fundamentally true, given that nothing becomes history as quickly as a game of football. A good performance means precious little to the general football public if it can’t be backed up by another one.

However, the game at Old Trafford wasn’t a one off. It was the end of a cycle for Liverpool FC and Brendan Rodgers – the final confirmation. If there were any doubts left about the direction this team is taking, they were efficiently swept away on Sunday.

So, back to the question: What happens now?

We keep going. Believing. A little taller, a little stronger. Enjoying the ride. Because that’s what is: a ride we should enjoy, without worrying about consequences. Even though it seems dangerous, which is the thing with faith and belief. It depends on factors beyond our control, both as fans and human beings. There is no definite answer. And this makes it a little bit dangerous and scary, which is as ridiculous as it is true.

Because whatever happens from no and until the 11th of May, we can’t deny what we have seen since we took off on the 17th August, since Daniel Sturridge and Simon Mignolet showed the way and chose the path for us. And whatever happens now, we know the new seeds have been planted. Everything points towards this actually being real – something tangible to attach our hopes and dreams to. We have seen what we wanted to see; or rather, what we hoped to see. Our fears have been destroyed and hope prevailed. The good guy won.

Whatever happens now, the idea that is LFC is no longer just an idea – it is rapidly becoming reality. This is happening, whether we were ready for it not. Football doesn’t care; football doesn’t wait for us to make up our minds.

And neither does Brendan’s Brilliant Reds.

Agger is too overrated and could have cost us with even Joe Allen.

    • Marshall says:

Agger was responsible for all three goals against cardiff city.his not committed like skertl and leaves flanagan exposed.

Always so negative pino pino. We scored 6 and won. We’re 2nd in the league. I don’t think our concentration levels were good today but we prevailed. I’m sure we’ll concentrate better against chelsea and citeh when we really need to

I think Agger hasn’t been at his usual standards for 18 months now and others are left to take the blame. However, at present he and Skrtel are definitely the preferred choice, at least until Sakho fully adapts to the English game.

Not bad for a championship level manager deemed not good enough to lace the boots of Benitez. So funny how so may people could get BR abilities so spectacularly wrong.

Keep up the good work guys, doing us all proud.

Did benitez ever play such exciting football as we’re seeing now? No. He had his moments but rodgers has got them playing some fantastic stuff. 82 goals and 8 games left. Say no more
