If Anyone Can, Liverpool Can

Liverpool-v-ChelseaThe hardest thing I had to endure this past few months is having to sit through an episode of Greys Anatomy with my Mrs, while trying to get around Liverpool’s loss to the Dementor team, Chelsea. Even Chelsea fans hate the way Chelsea play. I wouldn’t be surprised if even Chelsea players hate the way they play.

United fans who hate Liverpool FC and don’t want us to win the league hated the way Chelsea played on Sunday. In fact, it has been reported that the Dalai Lama uttered his first cuss word while watching that match! Seeing Jose with his rants on the side of the field, gesturing that he is number 1, I felt so sick to my stomach.

I tried to make sense of it all: why would the Football Gods be so cruel? Why give us a winning run only to rip it away at the worst possible time, against the worst possible team, at the worst possible venue, to the worst possible coach?

What did we do wrong to deserve such torture, for the Football Gods to dangle the league trophy – as a carrot just out of our reach – in so cruel, so malicious, so utterly disgusting a way that I cant watch Liverpool’s final two matches?

Instead I will watch the last two episodes of Greys Anatomy and watch the Manchester City games, with my Voodoo Doll and bad luck charms. I will pray to the Football Gods, offer up some sacrifices, make false promises and hope, against all odds, that City lose just one of their remaining three matches.

Many seem to believe that Everton hold the key to Liverpool winning the league but I have to disagree strongly. With the ease that Southampton calved them apart last week, I cant even consider Everton wining that game let alone drawing. Lukaku was so ineffective I almost want to suggest that he was acting under instruction from his parent club! “This week we will be poor going forward” could very well be a circular on the Chelsea intranet this week. I just cannot see Everton taking even a point from City. It’s just not possible.

Where my optimism is heading however, is West Ham. The spoiler tactics they have, they too can “park the bus” as they have proved against Chelsea already, and that 35 million pound flop owes us!

If he can do a defensive job against City as he did against other teams then they can take a point, possibly even three. My hopes and dreams are now resting on the shoulders of a man with a point to prove. Andy Carroll, please dear God, please! This will become my prayer going forward from today onwards.

Since not so Super Sunday, I have been trying to find positives from that lack-lustre performance and I cant find any. Steven should never have slipped and Sackho should’ve played a ball forward instead, whilst Mignolet should’ve saved Demba Ba’s shot.

Another way to look at it, is that it is still in our hands, all we need to do is score 10-12 goals in two games! And this loss to Chelsea may just give us that hunger to go forward fearlessly like we did before. 12 goals in two games – if anybody can do it this season, then this Liverpool team can!

Great article getting me to laugh when I’m so down about the game. I’ve been arguing and ranting about the loss and how Chelski played so boring and defensively. Ignoring our moments of parking the bus. Buit the fact is had we recognized the tactic and countered it then a draw would put us in the drivers seat to the title. Upside tho now the pressure is on city to win 3 and we can legitimately beat palace and newcastle. Either way we went from struggling theoretically for 4 to challenging for the first division title. Shankly said he would get anxious about games and that’s half the fun. 3-0 down at half time and we won the champions league, if anyone can do it LIVERPOOL FC can. YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE.
