Football - FA Premier League - West Ham United FC v Liverpool FCTwo Steven Gerrard penalties gave Liverpool all three points against West Ham. The Reds went ahead on 43 minutes after Sam Tomkins handled in the area. However just moments later West Ham equalised from Guy Demel’s shot, referee Anthony Taylor awarded the goal after consulting with his linesman who flagged for a foul on Simon Mignolet.

Cue outrageous calls from LFC fans and players who had seen the whole incident replayed on the big screen and it was blatantly obvious that Andy Carroll had used his arm in the face of Mignolet and pulled his arm down for the ball to drop to the feet of the defender.

Luckily for us in the second half Lucas who had replaced Coutinho at half time played a fabulous ball into the path of Jon Flanagan who had got forward into the box. Jon went down after the challenge from Adrian – for me it was a penalty, the keeper had made contact with the back of Flanagan’s back leg. Anthony Taylor waited then pointed to the spot. Gerrard stepped up and scored his second goal of the game.

West Ham tried to make it difficult for the Reds but everyone dug in and made sure that the three points were in the bag come the final whistle.

I thought this week I would highlight the most interesting facts and figures from the match:
