Brendan Rodgers manager of Liverpool smiles before the Barclays Premier League Match between LiverpoAs if having a Bank Holiday on a Monday wasn’t already cause for celebration, Liverpool FC today made a superb Premier League season even better for Reds by announcing that manager, Brendan Rodgers, had signed a new contract at the club.

Having been at the club 2 years, Rodgers has made incredible strides in the past 12 months following a shaky but solid first season and he has now indelibly imprinted his own style on the club and particularly the team.

Echoing the thoughts and feelings of fans across the globe, John Henry and Tom Werner said “Brendan is at the heart of what we, as an ownership group, are trying to achieve on the pitch. This season has reaffirmed everyone’s belief that we can bring football success to Liverpool and we are all committed to working together to achieve that.”

With Champions League football guaranteed for next season, after Liverpool finished 2nd and were narrowly beaten to the title by Manchester City, the club are keen for Rodgers to kick on with a clear mind over his own future, as he looks to build on the success of last season.

Speaking after signing his new contract, Rodgers said “I am both humbled and privileged to be offered the chance to extend my stay at this great club.

“I would like to place on record my thanks to the players and staff, who have been absolutely brilliant for me since the day I started at this great football club. I am grateful to our owners and senior management team who have supported me and who share my vision of how we can progress on the field.

“Finally, I must thank the supporters who are at the heart of everything we do here. I am honoured every day to lead this team and I thank the fans for their continued support as together we strive to bring success back to Liverpool Football Club.”

With Rodger’s future now secured for at least a few more years, Liverpool fans will now be hoping to see some new signings enter the club over the 2 weeks up until the World Cup starts, after the summer’s most important signing was completed today.
