franse-media-thorgan-hazard-voor-1-5-miljoen-naar-anderlecht-id4602516-1000x800-nReports in the press on Friday night and Saturday morning would suggest that Liverpool are showing a great deal of interest in Chelsea’s youngster, Thorgan Hazard – Eden’s younger brother.

The young attacker has spent the best part of two seasons on loan at Belgian side Zulte Waregem, scoring 15 goals in 48 games last season, being named the equivalent of young player of the year in the Belgian league.

The 21 year old will return to Chelsea over the summer and, at his current age, will no doubt be looking to make his mark on a new level, in the Premier League and Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is believed to be interested.

Whether Liverpool fans will welcome the interest though, is another matter. Particularly after the eventual farce that the Moses loan turned out to be, with Moses scoring just 1 goal all season before going on to become a figure of derision for his lack of effort when given a chance.

Having been burned before aside, the question would be raised about Liverpool loaning a player from a side that, next season, will be considered a rival for all the major competitions that Liverpool are in, after surprising everybody by challenging for the title until the last day of last season.

However good Hazard junior may be, Liverpool will be looking to build a much stronger squad, with quality throughout, as well as shipping out some players that have let the side down this season and entering the market for a loan deal could well be perceived as a wrong move.

What do you think, would Hazard’s younger sibling be a welcome addition or should Liverpool steer clear of the loan market after having previously been burned?

It is ridiculous to have a loan player from a BPL opponent in the club for only 1 year. He then returns with invaluable data on our methods and strengths/weakness to a direct rival – ludicrous in the extreme. Either buy or leave alone !

A club like liverpool shouldn’t be loaning players period!!! are we Hull city or something…..

  • Erin says:

No. Rather have our own academy players mess up a game or two than watch some Chelsea loanee any day.

Why should LFC develop players for the likes of Chelsea. We’ve already had Moses (useless)
What’s he going to reveal when he goes back, all Rodgers training methods?

Flippin joke, hope we never do any deals with the Chelsea scum ever again

We definitely shouldn’t be loaning from EPL rivals. Generally we shouldn’t be loaning at all, except if we find ourselves specifically short with just a few days to go in a transfer window. If that’s the case then we’ve actually mismanaged the transfer window in the first place. It’s only understandable if we have a late longer term injury which we need to cover.
