Fabio Borini (Liverpool)Seemingly in response to Liverpool’s signing of Rickie Lambert on Monday morning, Fabio Borini’s agent has reiterated the Italian striker’s desire to remain at Anfield. The player’s agent Marco de Marchi is reported as saying “Does Lambert’s arrival close the door on Fabio Borini? No, I don’t think so,”

“We have received no communications in that regard. In this last season, Fabio gave a considerable contribution towards keeping Sunderland up.

“He was praised by everyone, especially by the Liverpool manager [Brendan] Rodgers.

“He wants to compete with everyone and be an extra resource for the coach and the team.

“Borini could be of use to any team, but no-one has contacted us and his desire is to show what he’s got at Liverpool.”

Borini himself has made it clear that he was keen to return to Liverpool after a very successful spell at struggling Sunderland, after forming an immensely fruitful partnership with Connor Wickham over the final couple of months of the season, during which both players combined to, not only keep Sunderland up, but to push them into a comfortable mid-table position.

The Italian youngster scored 10 goals in all competitions and contributed another 3 assists and was voted Sunderland’s Young Player of the Year.

While many believed that the striker would return to back up Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, Lambert’s arrival has now cast doubt over the future of Borini at Liverpool but regardless of what the club intend, Borini’s agent has made it very clear as to where he believes his future lies.

What do you think, should Liverpool sell Borini to raise funds, or allow him to add a different dimension to our growing attack next year?
