Campo Retro offers a high-quality range of retro shirts

A quick perusal of Campo Retro’s website shows a large quantity and range of very high quality shirts covering a number of periods throughout football history but all having that same ‘retro cool’ about them, that the current range of football shirts just seems to lack.

At present, all Premier League, top sides in the Championship and a number of Europe’s greatest sides have their own collections, with Liverpool in particular having a very dense collection of classics, from the original, plain red with white collar and sleeves, right through to the great Carlsberg shirts of the Houllier and early Benitez era (http://www.camporetro.com/Shop-By-Team/Premier-League/Liverpool)

For the purposes of this review, Live4Liverpool chose the Spanish shirt from the Brazil ’14 collection, complete with Xabi Alonso’s name and number emblazoned across the back of the shirt.

The reverent nature of the way the shirt comes packaged – bagged and enclosed in branded Campo Retro paper – immediately lets you know you’ve purchased a top-quality product.

The Brazil ’14 collection includes classic kits from the ‘Die Oranje’ Netherlands kit, through to the ‘Socceroos’ of Australia, and many more in between. But there is just something special about the gold and red of the classic Spanish shirt, something regal and historic, and this was even clearer once the shirt arrived.

But, with their new Brazil ’14 collection Campo Retro has added something a little special with shirts that are; 88% Cotton, 12% Air. 100% Cool.

Replicating the Mexico ’70 ‘mesh’ look, created to help the players deal with the intense heat, the shirt looks immensely iconic and the sharp angles of the collar just adds that extra little bit of panache.

While many of us are too young to recall when these shirts were first worn, there is no doubt that the classic, 70’s

look brings back many memories of a time when football seemed more ‘pure’ and innocent and the shirts look and feel steeped in the history of a time gone by themselves.

Also, don’t be put off by the fact that these are a classic collection, as you can have your shirt named and numbered with your modern favourite’s name & number but with that authentic retro look.

So, if the Spanish range are anything to go by then the entire Campo Retro collection is of the highest quality and if you’re on the lookout for a retro shirt to show your support for your country during the World Cup, or your club next season, then you’d be daft to go anywhere else.
