Lazar Markovic looks almost certain to be Liverpool’s next signing

With a handful of targets already signed up, Liverpool are to continue spending until Brendan Rodgers is happy with the squad he has available for the new season, according to Ian Ayre.

Ayre said, “It’s all about building and progress,” said Ayre. “We’ll aim to continue that throughout the summer.

“We’ve obviously sold Luis, but we’ve had a busy few weeks with players arriving as well.”

With any number of targets lined up, it’s hard to put your finger on who is a genuine target and who is just the subject of gossip and rumour, but Benfica’s Lazar Markovic seems almost certain to be the Reds newest signing by the end of the weekend, with his medical having been reportedly rescheduled for today and a new left back and centre back high on the agenda.

Of course, the most talked about area that Liverpool need bolstering is in Luis Suarez’s vacant role and will be cause for a lot of speculation over the coming weeks.

Are there any targets you believe Liverpool simply have to sign this summer if next season is going to be a success?

This rebuilding process scares the life out of me.
We undersold luis. Bale wa worth 85 million, Suarez had to be at least that. Plus, BR has a terrible , terrible transfer record. Allen, borini, asaidi, sahin, aspas etc. With two successful signings. It looks like we have added lalana (bench warmer for England ) and we are linked with Davis, Bertrand and co. Some other truly terrible choices.
Rogers, please buy a direct replacement for luis.
The scary thing is, dalglish wasted 120 million after half season of success. This guy will put the nail in te coffin. We are all watching ….

Why don’t you have faith in BR this young manager came to our great club with some fans saying he his the wrong man for the job well let’s roll on two years happy days we back in champions league came so close to winning the PL now let’s look at managers in PL they all buy crap players you buy 6 you might get 1/2 good ones that football or don’t you know that ????????? Ynwa red forever

      • Erin says:

I listed the reasons above. Do you need a list of players brought in by Rogers?
Mistakes: Allen, Borrini, asaidi, aspas, Alberto, sakho (on last seasons evidence), sahin, mignolet! Yes, the keeper is a calamity.
This year. Lalana for 25 million. A 26 year old with two years in the pl? A guy who played league 1, 3 seasons ago? He did so because that was his level. Now, wasn’t Carrol too good for league one/championship?

I’m saying it because we just lost 45 goals (created/scored)! That’s almost half the goals. Not to mention creating space for Sturidge to act like some sort of world beater.

This year is crucial. Top 4 is a priority as it’s now worth 60 million plus just to qualify . United, Chelsea, arsenal, man city are buying talent.
We get linked with Chelsea rejects. Former Swansea players and , southampton. Seriously.

    • Dillboy says:

Agree. All overpriced British talent. If we end up with jay Rodriguez and Lovren that would be 4 Southampton players if last season in our team but I thought we finished second and Southampton finished 8 th ? We know England are sh*t and if we sign Rodriguez it will be nailed on he’ll be straight into the England team which will mean were have 8 England players in our team ( disaster ) . Man U, arsenal chelsea are and will be bringing in too talent from elsewhere while we’re wasting silly money on Southampton players . I wouldn’t be at all surprised

I’m completely fed up with so called supporters who do nothing but moan. Unlike you I’m an optimist and have complete confidence in Brendan Rodgers and his team. Go and support another team and leave Liverpool for the genuine and loyal supporters.

      Even I’m bricking it

  • Teaks says:

Have faith in Brendan ,,we almost won the league last season. One or two fine signings &we will be there again come next May. We never walk alone

  • deon says:

Br did not sign suarez, dalglish did,we need 2 big name players to bring success to the club,2nd yes,but thats only the 1st loser, cantona, ronaldo brought success to united, drogba, zola to chelsea, ozil brought another dimension to arsenal, lets not talk city,we had suarez, his gone, big names to draw confidence and creativity

  • gareth says:

70million for the 3rd best player in the world is just an absolute joke when bale goes for 85m..lfc are just a laughing stick of world football still, who the hell is in charge of selling players..and buying because we never get a good price and we always overpay for overrated ‘talent’ and before u Muppets say be loyal be optimistic i am more so than many but i am sick of seeing city chelski arsenal and now scum overtake us on ALL levels….our future is not half as rosey as made out, the other top 4 will progress more so than us again this year

  • Roger says:

BR’s record? When he came to LFC, there was no CL. He had no choice but to bring whoever available. Now its different, the plan was to get DM and some defenders but again the unexpected happened with the departure of Luis Suarez. There is no one in the world even comes close to Suarez’s abilities so BR had to reinforce from middle. The names that targeted had their value inflated suddenly. Just because, BR was given the money but it doesn’t mean he have to buy over valued players. Its clear LFC don’t want to emulate Spurs. Why panic when there are lots of discussions still going on. If the players don’t want to come here than there is no point blaming BR, look what happened to most of the players who chose other teams instead of LFC. All totally wasted and warming benches. We don’t want that to happen here. So CHILLAX…

  • Teaks says:

Look guys liverpool did the correct thing & got rid of Suarez he can not drag our great football club in to any more dirt!, Let’s move on. 75million is a lot of cash for a player who could miss. Half a season cause of suspension

  • greggo says:

It really shows this transfer committee has not much say over Rodgers who has no idea about which players to get time to take that from him.
How much imagination does it show when the club is linked to 4 Southhampton players and 2 from Swansea except Lambert all over priced and none except maybe Lovren the class required to succeed at a big club.
This rebuilding idea needs to stop the signing of Markovic and Origi and Can are no where near finished articles there is no way the club is making the top 4 next season and Rodgers can shoulder all the blame.

  • Teaks says:

The season hasn’t started yet & some of our fans are defeated already, what is wrong with use. We are Back !

  • kamal singh says:

I don’t know what BR doing this transfer market….buying Southampton players that too overpriced, now club is linked to BONY, when we could have signed the world class REUS for 25m we got LALLANA. BR targeting DAVIES when we can get ROJO. This is really frustrating , we have lost the best striker in the world we should be getting some talent not BONY ,at least get LUKAKU. FIRMINO,REUS, SHIQUIRI,ROJO, HUMMELS these are the players club should be targetting, and we are buying shit…

  • Mark says:

I agree with Teaks – can we leave the apocolyptic meanderings for a boit, and see who we actually buy first eh?
I agree that we need at least one world class player – but let’s not get too sucked in to the modern footy amlaise of shooting your own team/manager before a ball’s bee kicked in anger as yet?
Markovic will be a good buy, comes highly rated, and Orig, should he come, will be a good acquisition too, although he goes back to France on loan – no bad thing, and great for the future.
However, we do need some genuine, mature and experienced talent for the Prem and CL – youngsters in the domestic cups is a fab platform for them to hone their skills. But in the major competitions, it’s waaaaaaaaaaay too much of a risk to not have experienced, truly talented players.
Let’s just see what happens – I have a feeling that we won’t repeat the probs that poor ole Spurs had in the same situation post Bale. But BR has made some bad errors in the transfer market in the past – but some good names have been mentioned, so I guess we just have to watch this space….

  • rebel says:

most of the transfers wz have seen or looking to be probable are long term targets thats nothing to do with suarez sells. they are a part of rebuilding process of BR. When most fans or so called pudits moan about doing a tottenham they seems to forget tottenham assimilated a squad from different countries and clubs quite unkown to each other almost no pl experience and that happend late in the window.BR just avoiding that. and whats problem signing young rough diamonds when he is capable of polishing them in the best way. but i dont disagree the signing of quality and for that Reus has occupied some part of my head.

  • Madman says:

Please please I beg ridges not to sign Bony or origi. Brendan is a good manager but his transfer buying is useless. Apart for DS and PC tge rest are loaned out or on the bench. Please liverpool just go straight fro proven talent and not potential. I’m sick of buying potential we need the real deal now , otherwise I really fear we will finish six or seven. Look at utd who they buying and there manager will attract top names. Chelsea – Costa and fabregas. Arsenal Sanchez and they are after khedira, man city will but top again . Please please get proven talent now!!!

  • Honeyneny says:

Honestly Rodgers is foolish in buying players. I still consider him as an average manager till i see where he goes on d table without suarez.who is origi for God’s sakes 2nd Aspas? There r many players, proven players dat he can buy but he is here wasting liverpools moni.infact he cant even attract big players no wonder Sanchez snubbed liverpool.he is a wasteful manger. Suarez made him finish 2nd last season, believ me when i say he must finish 7th dis season. The most annoyn thing is him sniffing around soutampton n swansea which player is good dia? Imagine considering giving Rickie Lambert Suarez’s jersey no is he not a stupid coach?pls someone shld tel dis average coach to buy james rodriguez or Ardan turan n shagiri n forget origi, bony n lukaku. BR average coach.

    • Erin says:

Fully agree. The so called optimists are smoking drugs. Blind faith will take you no where.
The players he ha bought so far are average at best. Bar one player, lambert, I can not see anyone adding value. Out transfer committee seems to be BR. An the scouting network consists in some guy in southampton and another one, his brother in law at Swansea.
For the life of me I don’t get it. Lukaku?? First touch resembles that of a bear.
Look at Jackson Martinez to replace Suarez. Bony? Why not a phone call to Hulk?
Truth is BR will be found out as a sham come end of the season.

  • stevie says:

The doom merchants are out in force. Keep the faith you pessimists

  • John says:

Liverpool must sign marque player! Proven and experience in both club n country level. We cannot afford to sign potential youngster… Look at Chelsea ?arsenal , Man U – they are planning to go for big marque signing which cost 35 to 40 million pound.else u can just ask the player to enjoy for the champion league campaign for only this season

  • Marshall says:

Oh dear we cannt negotiate for remy whose total cost even @100k a week for 5 yrs is less than lallana price and bony askin price.buyin bony makes buyin lambert look foolish.imagin remy sturridge sterlin coutinha….guess l rated rodgers to highly.

  • stevie says:

when are we going to start shipping a few players out and actually get a fee for them? aspas for example. why loan him out and pay most of his wages? just get rid of him for nothing. clearly nobody will pay a fee for him. same goes for assaidi, suso, coates. deadwood

  • joel says:

    erin
please you are gidding yourself.. Rodgers did well last year suarez or no suarez…. when you are buying players between 6-12 million they are a gamble.. sturridge and countiho.. hit.. the rest not so much..
spending 15 – 25 million they should be hits.. lets wait and see and look forward to the year ahead..Come on Rodgers stick it up these whinging pricks or holes.. YNWA
