Marco Reus of Germany would go some way to replacing Suarez’s creativity

Over the past 24 hours, the odds on Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus joining Liverpool have been drastically slashed, after rumours that Brendan Rodgers was preparing to make a huge move for the German attacker.

Skybet moved the Reds up to joint favourites to sign the Dortmund man after a flurry of bets were prompted by internet gossip but whether or not there is any truth in the rumours is yet to be seen.

Manchester United were previously believed to be favourites to sign the player but with the money available from the Luis Suarez deal, Liverpool would certainly be in a position to match any bid United could make and the fact that Liverpool have Champions League football to offer could definitely give them an edge.

Reus was reported to be a Barcelona target prior to Suarez’s move and is believed to be unhappy at being snubbed in favour of Suarez, meaning his mind could well be set on a move away from Dortmund already.

Whether Liverpool would move for such a high-profile player is open to debate but there is definitely a hole to fill after Suarez’s departure and a player of the calibre of Reus would certainly have the ability and start attraction to fill that void.

So, do you think the rumours are true? And would Reus be open to a move to Liverpool?

Update: In the past hour, sources close to the club have indicated that there has been no indication of interest from the club.

Hope this is true because we need a big name signing to reassure fans after the sale of Suarez. So far we seem to be spending our time trying to buy the Southampton first team. Given that Southampton finished 8th last season buying the whole Southampton team doesn’t seem the most likely way to challenge for the title.

In my last comment i have said my head is already turned to Reus. This has happend few years ago before signing suarez. I dont know if the rumours are true or not, but it would be dream deal, if true.

Just make sure no one mention it to Phil Thompson around Anfield! We wouldn’t want him blabbing now!

Kinda sad that other top clubs in epl linked with big names and when Liverpool gets linked with one, it’s a big deal. Doesn’t help when we’re linked with bony who is good btw but when the excuse players reject signing for us last season was lack of CL, what’s the excuse this time?

The best available replacement for Suarez is Reus. Other signings look fringe to me.

I really hope this is real cuz we need a top striker to fill that void left by suarez and I don’t think bony and rodriquez will give us 25 goals minimum in the league! Reus is a top top player and with our style of play I can see him getting 25 and over goals in the league providing he stays fit.

He will be either a Chelsea or Tottenham player before John Henry and Company come to realize the proper price for the player.

Never thought we’d even be linked with players of this calibre but since we are & we have the funds, i’d like to see LFC show some real ambition & go for Reus. If we get Moreno, Lovren & a GK as planned, this would be a very satisfactory transfer window indeed!!

Am tired of always hearing about marquee singings that don’t always see the light of day. We always identify world -class talents only for other clubs to sing later. Reus will be a fantastic deal if we can get it done and dusted.

    Reus is good 4 us

  • Madmax says:

Make us dream!!! We are being linked to Southampton and Swansea players!! I think we should sack the scouting team first before being linked to Reus. It’s impossible we will get him. We are only after potential players period. I’m sick of it.
