Emre Can today signed for Liverpool FC

Having agreed a deal to join the Reds back in June, German U21 international midfielder, Emre Can, has today officially joined Liverpool FC. He follows former Southampton duo Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert to Anfield and becomes the clubs’ 3rd signing of what promises to be a very busy transfer window.

Speaking today in his first official interview with LFC.tv, Can said “I want to thank the manager for trusting me and allowing me to play here. I am proud to be a part of the family and I am looking forward to playing here. I will give it my best.

“It was an easy decision for me to sign with Liverpool as I had a very good chat with the manager, which clearly showed that the club and he wanted to sign me. This was important for me. I can say it was an easy decision for me.”

Can is a promising youngster, with plenty of experience at a high level of football, having amassed 45 first team games across 2 seasons at Bayern Munich, and then Bayer Leverkusen.  Can will also bring a little added Champions League experience to the squad, which it may have been slightly lacking before his arrival.

Can said “Playing in the Champions League is a dream come true for every footballer. I have a total of seven Champions League games now, and those sorts of matches are not comparable to any other games. I hope we will progress as far as we can and I am looking to compete against the best teams in Europe. I believe we will play a good role in next year’s competition.”

Arriving for a fee of £9.75 million, the German is likely to feature more than many would expect this season. On his third new signing of the summer, Brendan Rodgers had this to say: “Emre is an exciting young talent and I’m delighted he’s chosen Liverpool for the next phase of his development and growth as a player.

“We have tracked his progress for some time and I have been impressed with his attitude and qualities when I have seen him play both in the German Bundesliga and the Champions League.”

So, how do you feel about Liverpool’s newest signing?
