Would Benzema Be A Good Buy For Liverpool?

So, Alexis Sanchez’s wife has finally moved to London. Oh, and her husband is now an Arsenal player too and Liverpool have once again missed out on a world class target. Many of our writers this week have asked the question: who will replace Luis Suarez? And, as has been pointed out, there are no easy answers, simply because Suarez is nigh on irreplaceable.

Only signing Messi or Ronaldo would be adequate enough to cover the losses (in goals, assists, fear-factor) but the obvious benefit of cashing in is a huge amount of money allowing 2-3 top/world class players to be brought in to spread the pressure and weight around the squad, or allow Rodgers to sign a big name that would soften the blow and enable him to bring in a couple of great players to compliment the squad.

While here, at live4liverpool, we’re not fond of buying into rumours and gossip from certain newspapers and sources, the name Karim Benzema has come up many times in the past 24 hours, which raises the question: would Benzema be that ‘marquee’ signing that many fans crave?

It’s crazy to think that Real Madrid are looking to let the French striker go but with Falcao looking to cut his time at Monaco short, Real are believed to be eager to sign him up and Benzema will seemingly be the fall guy. And while he might not bring that same reputation as a Messi or Suarez, in terms of pure ability and single-mindedness, his goal scoring record simply speaks for itself.

192 goals in 403 games for Lyon and Real, and still only 26. It’s easy to see him having at least another 100 goals in him, and with the loss of Suarez, his average of (just under) 20 goals a season, in a 40 game season would take a great deal of the pressure off Daniel Sturridge, Coutinho, Sterling, etc. And add in the arriving talents of Lallana, Lambert, Markovic and you’re looking at a good 5-10 goals each from these players that we didn’t have last season.

From a personal point of view, Benzema isn’t a player I’d have ever chosen, but in the current transfer market you’ve got to be wise and move quickly, meaning you sometimes have to adapt to the situation.

Back in May, nobody could’ve seen a situation where Liverpool would lose Suarez, let alone to Barcelona. And we certainly couldn’t have envisaged that move simultaneously strengthening Arsenal by having Barca sell Sanchez to them to raise the funds. But if we’re playing ‘world’s best forwards merry-go-round’, then Liverpool may as well get in on the act too.

With Suarez and Sanchez already moving to Barca and Arsenal respectively, Costa moving to Chelsea, City and United seemingly content with their group of strikers and Spurs in no position to either attract or afford Benzema, that just leaves the continents tops sides. I can’t see PSG wanting to disrupt the mammoth-sized ego of Ibrahimovic, whilst Bayern look unlikely to splash the cash after only falling short in the Champions League, and none of the big Italian sides seem to have to pennies to rub together these days, content to simply look for bargains.

Which may just leave Liverpool.

Of course, as I stated a few paragraphs back, there are only rumours of Real’s interest in Falcao but his eagerness to escape Monaco are very real and if he arrives somewhere it’s unlikely said club will be able to sustain two highly-paid, superstar strikers, and if it does happen to be Real, well… you never know, stranger things have happened!

Would you welcome the signing of Benzema? Can you see him being able to replace at least some of the magic or, at least, goals that Suarez is taking to Barcelona?

Weve just received 75m for Suarez so we have the money + CL football but will Madrid sell to a club who just sold Suarez to Barca, i doubt it.

Benzema won’t join LFC, He would rather join Wenger as they are both French. Wenger always wins in the race to French players. And most of the time, RM and Barcelona players prefer London clubs as they are used to city life. Better to show off their flashy cars. Moreover BRodgers probably won’t even think about Benzema as he doesn’t suit the way we’re playing. He is a good finisher no doubt but misses 8 of 10 chances. Remy or Bony may be better for LFC. And for defence,It will be great if we get both Lovren and Coulker. With Moreno/ Rojo.

I love Benzema, I think that he is the best replacement for Suarez. He will be an animal in England. If we manage to sign him it will be a surprise, but s good one I would say. In terms of Bony – another great striker with exerience in PL, but when was the last time you saw a duo of black guys in the offensive line of Liverpool. It has always been an alloy between the both mentalities – Barnes – Rush, Heskey – Owen, Baros – Cisse, Sturridge – Suarez. I think that Benzema will be a better fit for Sturridge and he could join as being the main striker.

Benzema would be a good signing but get a player no one would expect and is also very good. I highly suggest Liverpool should get NEYMAR. Neymar can do all Suarez can and more getting him won’t be regreted, he is young too………. He is a good idea.
    Neymar for Liverpool
