15 Defenders Linked With Liverpool This Summer

Mats HummelsFor all the worry over how Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool will replace Luis Suarez, now Barcelona bound, the primary concern for this summer’s transfer window is still the defence.

The back four ultimately were the reason why Liverpool missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City, regardless of the odd event here and there, such as Steven Gerrard’s slip against Chelsea or Raheem Sterling’s offside against Manchester City. The title is won over 38 games, and if the Reds had just kept a slightly tighter rein at the back, then the 24 year wait may have been finally over. The 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace epitomises the issue perfectly.

Therefore, it is no surprise that Liverpool have been linked with numerous defenders so far this summer, with the likelihood of at least two joining the club – a left back and a centre back. A right back could also become a possibility if Glen Johnson departs, while another centre back may be needed if Galatasaray strengthen their reported interest in Martin Skrtel.

Don’t know why but whenever LFC goes for a player,it seems clubs hold them for a ransom. Increasing the value to ridiculous amount. They are as if willing to let their players go to elsewhere than to Anfield. And the other thing is some fans keep moaning about not signing marquee names. When LFC does sign someone, some even ridiculed BR and Ayre for paying to much. Pheeew..!! Its really hard satisfying LFC fans. Can’t we just relax and support the team than to keep complaining and moaning all the time? Last season we didn’t buy any world beaters and it didn’t stop us from going all the way to second. Last year teams just needed to stop Suarez to halt LFC. This year we don’t have him. Teams will be confused. Its kind of a plus point for us . Plus with some addition, we’ll be stronger. So,have some faith.
